My forum

No, there's nothing particularly good about that forum. There are thousands and thousands of forums out there, so you're going to have to do something special and out of the ordinary with a new one if it's to have any chance. A forum dedicated to discussing anime isn't a new idea. Plus, the singular graphic on the forum is crude and the rules are hard to understand.

So, to be honest, your forum is rather pointless and you're wasting your time with it.

There are more ads than content at the moment. Don't like ads :(

It's probably fine for you and your friends etc but I wouldn't personally use it - it adds nothing that isn't say, here already, whilst losing the established userbase which is the reason I post here in the first place. Users make or break forums and they tend to congregate at the bigger sites with a specific focus. Maybe if you give yours a focus of its own (instead of just being like here only smaller) it will grow - like making it a forum to dicuss how fantastic Ishida Akira is at voice acting or something instead of duplicating existing boards?

Okay thanks for your advice Rui I guess I will give it a new focus instead of anime and manga since I think this forum is better for it anyway and I will stay here so I could just add the boards to the general catergory and focus on something else such as gaming. so could anyone give me any ideas for a new focus on my forums and I am sorry about the adverts since they appeared when I made the forum

Scrap the rules
"Don't spam"
"dont metion were you get your downloads"
Simple it feels more like an open forum not a nazi state.
Screw moderators unless your board should get a lot of traffic the only use they have is to show they have the bigger e-penis.
Iconic character in the banner with a catchphrase remove the other one.
Offer the chance to discuss "history",music" "japan" i dunno something around anime.
But honestly the thing that seperates a good board from the rest is a good community(look up cheers in youtube)thats what your board should be like.

Sure those rules are now gone and so has the banner now I am creating those boards
by the way will I be able to use a character from an anime or is that copyright

Ask the company, have *copyright of so so* in the corner in small print or just alter the hair colour and just say you didn't know.
This place used to have flcl as it's banner.

I'm probably a bit late with my response here but it's 5AM and I honestly have nothing better to do with my lonesome life, so here's some critique.

If you're serious about starting a community, the first thing you should do is get a serious web host and build something that isn't filled with adverts. Also, you might want to find a friend who can use Photoshop or something, because that forum banner is honestly pretty awful. Ultimately, your community is pretty much doomed to failure and this isn't a bad thing at all, you need to make mistakes to gain the experience you need to run a successful community in the future, so failure can be a good thing sometimes.

Unfortunately anime forums are all over the place, and you're just one more fish in the sea who decided to create a free forum about your favourite hobby. A couple of your friends will register, maybe the forum will see some activity for a week or two tops, then those friends will get lazy and the community will die. Good luck with that, though.
