MVM mentioned at the recent London EXPO that they are moving towards multi disc releases. Moribito seems to be the first MVM title to released in this manner. It will 2 disc set with an RRP of £24.99 (current play.com price of £16.99) and will be released on 06/09/2010.

It certaintly a nice move as if you buy single volumes from MVM title on day one from play.com. As they are generally priced at £9.99 on play.com so you are going to save £4 with these 2 disc volumes. With a lot of series on 6 disc this new method of release the saving would equal a saving of £12.

Finally got the release of Moribito planned soon then, i'll be picking it up. Still one of my top ten series. Now, if only we had an idea as to when to expect the third novel.

Sweet been wanting to watchi this for a while and thought quite a few times of getting the r1 release of this. I know that i will wait and get the r2 release

It's not as amazing a deal as you might think, especially if MVM have to follow the US release format. Media Blasters released the 26-episode Moribito across 8 discs, like Trigun with three episodes per disc, and with two discs of 4.

If MVM have to sell that in the UK, they'd fall flat. Who would by a three ep single volume of anime now in the UK?

With the two disc sets, they become 7,6,7, and 6 eps per release.

And that's how MVM released Aquarion and Samurai Deeper Kyo, albeit on single discs instead of two and at £9 cheaper per release.

They don't follow the USA release, their release patern are set by MADMAN as they generally use the same discs.

3 episode discs are general used on the last few volume releases, with the majority being 4+ episodes per volume.

Not all MVM recently releases were luckly enough to have 6-7 episodes per volume:

Desert Punk: 24 episodes over 6 volumes (so 4 episodes a volume)
Fate/stay night: 24 episodes over 6 volumes (so 4 episodes a volume)
Gunparade March: 12 episodes over 3 volumes (so 4 episodes a volume)

Well, I've preordered because I've heard some pretty reasonable things about it, and its always nice to see distributors moving over to the dual release format.

I tried looking for Moribito in Australian e-tailers, but couldn't find it. Hopefully there will be something from Madman soon, a six-disc release format. But MVM haven't always used Madman's discs either. And Media Blasters have released Moribito in 2 disc sets in the States as well.

It's not exactly a title big on extras, and if, and once again this is a big if, MVM mirror the US release, then £24.99 for 6 or 7 episodes is a big RRP. Especially when you consider that Manga can offer twice that at the same price. Of course it's down to what MVM can afford, and if it is a choice between £24.99 for Moribito, and no Moribito at all, then I'll scrape out my wallet. I just think that if the US disc model is followed, then £19.99 is a much more competitive RRP.

Even If it released on 8 disc it still better for it to be priced at £24.99 for 2 disc boxset than paying £15.99 twice for 2 volumes. With MVM quite rigrid on pricing setting and with them declaring all future series releases will multi disc sets. It nice to see that it looks like all 2 disc box set will have RRP set at £24.99 in future.

This show has been such a pita to pick up in R1, might as well buy this release now! Any guesses as to how long it will take them to release the whole thing?

Apologies for bumping this thread, didn’t think it was worth starting a new one.

First two discs of Moribito Guardian Of The Spirit have been classified by the bbfc.

Disc one contains episodes 1-7 - 12

Disc two contains episodes 8-13 - 12

So it looks like we will be getting this series in two 2 disc sets instead of 4 sets that were released in America.

Now that makes £24.99 a bloody bargain! :D I am so glad that MVM can release the show this way!

Also noted the trailer for Slayers Revolution.

First point is that the region 1 release was 8 single volumes or 4 2 disc volumes - I know as I got the 2 disc versions.

Second point is that looking on sites such as Amazon, Play.com & Anime-On-Line the run time vs number of discs does not add up.

http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/15431585 ... oduct.html

http://www.anime-on-line.com/xcart/prod ... t=0&page=1

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Moribito-Guardi ... 847&sr=1-1

Anime-On-Line list set 1 at £18.74 with a run time of 175 minutes. Play.com list it at £16.99 as a 2 disc set with a run time of 2 hours 55 minutes. Amazon list it as a 2 disc set at £18.69.

If this is correct then it is 2 discs & 7 episodes per set which is the same as the region 1 version I own.

There was also an R1 complete collection available exclusively through Walmart for not very much. Which unfortunately I already bought, so I can't get this release ^^;

Still, nice to see MVM branching out from singles.

Was there ever any confirmation that this would be released in just two boxsets? The listing on play.com makes it look like the first set will be 13 eps, and the next one just six, which would make no sense.

Anime On Line has Part 1 and Part 2 RRP ing at £24.99m with run times long enough to suggest just two parts, although hardly accurate.

More importantly, there's no Part 3 solicited and they have their schedules filled till past December.
