News has broken over at ANN that MVM are going to release the anime Kids on the Slope in 2013. ANN report that “Although there is not a confirmed release date yet, MVM said it would "probably" bring the series out in the second quarter of 2013.”

Synopsis

It is the 1960s and the story focuses on Kaoru Nishimi, a smart but naïve young boy who has had to move around Japan a lot due to his father’s job. His circumstances make him something of an outcast but at his latest school he starts to get close with class president, Mukae Ritsuko, and bad boy Sentaro Kawabuchi who tends to skip class and get into fights. What unites the three is their shared love of jazz!

This is an adaptation of Yuki Kodama’s manga and it was the first time that Yoko Kanno (Wolfs Rain, GitS: Stand Alone Complex) and Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo) worked together in the twelve years since the Cowboy Bebop movie. Other names in the production staff include Yuki Nobuteru (Escaflowne, Record of Lodoss War), Ayako Katoh (Chihayafuru) and Yuuko Kakihara (Sora no Otoshimono, Persona 4: The Animation). The anime was co-produced by Studio Tezuka and MAPPA (Masao Maruyama’s new studio).

MVM said it would "probably" bring the series THEY BETTER BRING! IT, Can't tease us like this. I have even twitted to them.
This has been one of my favourite anime series of this year and I'm glad theres a Sign for it...No I mean, IT IS Coming out here in the UK.

MVMs twitter feed confirmed it was set to release it next year with pricing and release date to be confirmed closer to the time, so it's definitely happening. As i said in the other topic, mixed bag for me. It felt rushed the further it went into the series, 12 episodes just wasn't enough for it, specially considering they basically rushed about a volume and a half of content mid-way(all in one episode) let alone the stuff later on, which left me feeling a little let down, but hey, there we go. I still love the soundtrack regardless though, it's on my playlist every day, hah.

It didn't feel rushed at all for me, except maybe the last episode. I agree 12 episodes is not enough but it's a great short series, such as AnoHana/Usagi Drop which also has same amount of episodes.
I would really love to see a follow up but after seeing the end of the series I doubt they can do much, well the could but that may spoil I nice ending.
Well at least it has been confirmed. Just waiting for the release date now! Don't care how much I will defiantly buy it and PLEASE let it be on Blu-ray.

Didn't MVM share the costs with Madman last time for Broken Blade? I'm guessing if they could do the same for Kids on the Slope, then we'll probably likely to see a Blu-ray.
