Yes, just what anime in the UK needs is more bolstering that it's mostly smut.
Oh Bah, they'd take anything with Bond level nudity and go off the deep end.

Suprised FMP didn't cause an utter riot what with the whole guns in school deal.
Hmm... maybe anime not being mainstream has it's advantages after all.

True but unfortunately we live in a culture that has the atitude that "cartoons are for kids, and if they're not then they're for pervs", and this will just throw yet another log on that fire.
You're saying that as if we've got a chance in hell of ever changing that perception between companies releaseing this BS instead of something of quality and such and the TV companies being completely incompetent in showing any of the stuff that's above "YuGiOh" level of offence.

From what I'm hearing, the only thing that holds them back is the perceived level of audience anything above childrens animation that isn't western produced, will pull in. They still think the niche is too small to take the risk.

There are plenty of teen/adult western Cartoons out there, as we all know, that are successful (South Park, Family Guy) and even the lesser known cartoons (Aqua Teen, Home Movies) are around. But, along with the idea that cartoons are for kids, its the idea that not everything animated always is a comedy and episodic. The Nickelodeon kids show, Avatar became extremely popular and I wouldn't put it past the fact that it has a on-going story that develops each episode.

I'm talking about over here.

Naruto and the like can be as famous as it can partain to be in America but it doesn't do us from AnimeUKNews much good if Jetix makes a fantastic mess of it and Bravo cancels it's Adult Swim block.

They didn't make a massive mess of Naruto. By all accounts it was a very popular show. Just because you didn't like does not make it bad.
