MVM have a new anime licence and it's...

Just Passing Through

The Wildcard
Coming in December, an older series based on a manga and one that has never before been released in the UK...

Facebook

And they'll tell us what it is later...

Aaargh!

Hoping it's Utena, or Welcome to the NHK.

Hahahaha!

Nah, but this sounds like brilliant news. Glad someone's decided to keep releasing old stuff.

Edit: NHK was based on a light novel, not a manga I believe. However, they might have got it wrong.

I think the NHK anime is closer to the manga than the light novel. And given that NHK has had a recent Australian release, meaning PAL materials are now available, I'd say there's a good chance of that being the new license.

I don't know how well Seto No Hanayome did in the States, but I hope it is that, just because I find the show ludicrously funny

Neither Special A nor Seto no Hanayome would typically be described as "older" series though.

Also, I can't open the link in the first page. Do you have to be logged into Facebook?

It's a total guess tbh, i'm normally wrong anyway :D

Just tested it myself and yes you do need to be logged on.

It depends on if you define 4 years as old, I don't know how old Special A is, but I know that Seto is around that

My other guess would be One Piece, but the licensing for that is in such a mess I don't know who owns the rights anymore

Neither is based on a manga.

Don't think they have dibs on Gonzo anymore either, Strike Witches went to Manga.
Nothing much from Siren based on a manga and Manga have dibs on most Madman releases, so no idea at all. Doubt it will be anything sub-only and a PAL transfer they've done themselves though.

Didn't Welcome To The NHK start to get released over here and get to volume one or two before ADV fizzled out? If that's the case, a new random license (like Utena!) would be absolutely mindblowing. I won't complain about a rescue either, though.

Cheers. Meh to that, then.

Jaymii: no, NHK wasn't amongst those final ADV UK releases. They passed it up in favour of such sure-fire hits as Innocent Venus and Red Garden.

And again, the NHK anime has more in common with the manga than the novel. It's also possible, as Paradox says, that MVM aren't aware of the novel.

It's definately not gonna be Utena. They seemed to imply it's a single release, and Utena's like 39 episodes.

My money's on NHK, though.

Manga don't have an exclusive on Madman titles. The recent Slayers discs were Madman discs. It's just that Madman has a practical monopoly in Australia, so most everything comes via them. Conversely, Manga's recent Casshern Sins DVDs were Siren discs.

I've thought of an older title that MVM getting would be sweet, Ai Yori Aoshi.

Have already got NHK on region 1, but I will pick it up again if MVM release it to keep MVM running for a bit longer. :D Just hope it isn't another ikki tousen through.......

Make my day, MVM - make it Monster.

If it were Utena, I would ******* go mental too. And pre-order immediately. Of course, I am ready for total disappointment, or at best indifference.
