Whenever I heard about something like this, I simply thought to myself: “Ha! Now they get to know what it’s like for us who have to pay an extra 20% on everything, even the second-hand incomplete free bonus items…”
But notable is that media isn’t exempt (for the UK) - just books. So you’re probably still better off.

In a way; the same goes for the tariffs themselves: there was some reasoning about “levelling the playing field”, which at least for the consumer side of things is not wrong.
I’d just prefer it if they actually did revert the VAT rate to the old lower value (or less). But it’s obviously far too lucrative for the sticky-fingered.

I do think there was ever an actual stoppage. Possibly a small pause during switchover, but they just put the message out to temper expectations (or take advantage at passing the blame buck). And the knock-on effect was some over-reaction by mail-order companies…
 
The problem is not the VAT or tariff, the actual problem is that some carriers charge huge extra amounts just for handling these fees and giving the customer no choice to just do it on their own.

If they'd just pass currency exchange fees or actual payment process costs, that wouldn't be a real issue. But sometime the handling fee is even larger than the actual VAT / tariff.

In Regards to Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Part 2 LE, for those of us who managed to ordered it at £74.99 before the price suddenly shot up to £99.99 even if the pricing was a mistake, will those orders be honoured, or will we need to cancel and re-order at the new price.

That's due to a lot of them being CEs. There are still some bargains like the MVM complete season 2 set of Log Horizon.

They'll be honoured, so no need to re-order.

As most of these were deleted off the site, I had to create new listings again - when a new product is listed/created it automatically marks it as "new", even if it is an old title.
 
So have Anime Limited made all their Collector's Edition Blu-rays exclusive to their AtA site now? I notice none or very few of the newer CE sets from AL I want are being offered on AOL. If that's the case then AL is basically forcing me to pay £25/$35 per order to buy from their site now - I can't just purchase one or two AL CE titles at a time from AOL anymore. I will probably only be able to make one order per year from them during their Christmas Sale, and I'll never be able to order enough titles to break the £250 free international shipping mark either - although I kind of doubt they will even offer that perk this year.

My only hope is that MVM continues to increase their on output of anime steelbooks or chipboard box CE sets in the coming years, I'll still be active in purchasing those at any chance I get. For this year, thank you very much for the Ergo Proxy and Lain steelbooks, and the Kamisama Kiss CE that MVM released this year, and also the Crunchyroll Eighty Six steelbook and AL City Hunter Angle Dust steelbooks - all five of which were not released in those formats over here in the US - I grabbed them all from AOL!

Yes, unfortunately AL have decided to keep majority of their CEs exclusive now with the odd exception on bigger titles being retail wide. It is a shame as not everyone might be even aware there's a CE available, but there isn't anything we can do sorry.
 
Ok, well the bigger titles they've allowed you to carry are all shonen series which I have no interest in at all, So I can assume AL Collector's Edition titles are completely exclusive now. You'll just have to pick up the pace with your own CE and steelbooks, MVM! ;)

The threshold for the December 2024 sale was £150, not £250, if I remember correctly, after previously being £100 when they had offered it in all sales. I am also curious if they will offer it again this time. Given what USPS charges other countries' postal services for their part of the delivery, it's certainly understandable if they do not feel they can offer this anymore.

There seem to have been a few too many repeat DOTW for me.
I don’t know of this title, but the whole point is to try stuff like that. Although I do begrudge the effective £17 price of added postage, if not ordering anything else. Time was that CEs and larger titles were lower price points.
 
Although it might be a good excuse to order a couple movies (even if Komada isn't due out for another couple of weeks) to bump up the order value to get free postage (especially as Komada & The Colors Within are cheaper on the MVM website compared with Amazon)
