Music with Sentimental value

I've been thinking...When i'm going through a tough patch in life i listen to music to help understand a way forward and make sense of things that are happening.

What songs/artists have helped you through a tough patch and how have they helped you through it?

Linkin parks songs have helped me throughout high school during various problems.

Faint - When me and my friend jen fell out and she stopped talking to me for 2 months main lyrics "dont turn your back on me, i wont be ignored"

Numb - When me and my long term girlfriend were forced to split up,

"Numb"

I'm tired of being what you want me to be
Feeling so faithless lost under the surface
Don't know what you're expecting of me
Put under the pressure of walking in your shoes
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)
Every step that I take is another mistake to you
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)

[Chorus]
I've become so numb I can't feel you there
Become so tired so much more aware
I'm becoming this all I want to do
Is be more like me and be less like you

Can't you see that you're smothering me
Holding too tightly afraid to lose control
Cause everything that you thought I would be
Has fallen apart right in front of you
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)
Every step that I take is another mistake to you
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)
And every second I waste is more than I can take

[Chorus]
I've become so numb I can't feel you there
Become so tired so much more aware
I'm becoming this all I want to do
Is be more like me and be less like you

And I know
I may end up failing too
But I know
You were just like me with someone disappointed in you

[Chorus]
I've become so numb I can't feel you there
Become so tired so much more aware
I'm becoming this all I want to do
Is be more like me and be less like you

[Chorus]
I've become so numb I can't feel you there
I'm tired of being what you want me to be
I've become so numb I can't feel you there
I'm tired of being what you want me to be

The song Fields of Gold... I can't listen to it without crying. But it has a special place in my heart.

Yeah, thats a good song and a really emotional one.
kinda reminds me of a old irish folk song "Danny boy"

The song "Beautiful World" by Utada Hikaru makes me happy for a number of reasons. A) It reminds me of Evangelion and B) It was the song I listenend to on the way to, and throughout my time in, Barcelona last summer. That was such a lovely holiday and Beautiful World reminds me of it.

"Enclosure" from Metal Gear Solid is also an incredibly emotional song for me. Mainly because of the context it's played in during the series.

And, of course, "Aerith's Theme" is a very powerful piece of music, too for obvious reasons to anyone who's played FFVII! :p

"Mo Ghile Mear" reminds me of Ireland, and all the beautiful landscapes, people, architecture, language, poetry and music there is here. It reminds me of school, too, because this was one of our graduation songs.

Yeah, it always kind of makes me feel like crying too. Can't say I jave any personal attachment to it, though.

I find alot of Red Hot Chili Peppers used to help me. Most music has emotional/sentimental value to me.

Kousai - alice nine. is probably one of the best though.

Our Tune usually gets to me, specially when it's played to a sad story

Fields of gold as said above

Circle of Life by Elton John always gives me a smile

and finally one that always bring a tear to my eye due to it being played at my mums funeral is Robbie Williams - Angels

love him or hate him, it's a bloody powerful song

2 negative, 1 positive so i need 1 more that always cheers me up when it's sunny

It's the Air intro

try it next time it's sunny, it does seem to make you smile and enjoy the weather

That end theme to the NGE movie is fantastic! I'd almost forgotten about that one.

Not many songs that I'm particularly attached to but Home by Depeche Mode has special memories attached to it. Similarly Mayonaise by the Smashing Pumpkins is a really important tune to me. It was the first of theirs I learned to play on guitar too - that intro before the distortion kicks in is a beautiful melody and really rewarding to play too.

Humm, I couldn't really listen to something as depressing as Numb if I was in the need of a little cheering up, the song itself is good, but a little on the depressing side and I'd only think of the video. As surprising as it probably is, a majority of the Dir En Grey songs make life seem to run smoothly, "Kodou", "Saku" and "Cage" in perticular. The crazy-ass song "Chu Chu Lovely Lovely Muni Muni Mura Mura Purin Purin Boron Nururu Rero Rero" By MAXIMUM THE HORMONE has never failed to make me laugh! And then there's the Llama Song...

Most nirvana songs have sentimental value to me. Songs like come as you are. Also, some sex pistols, even though they might not sound like they do, have some sentimental value.

Some other songs:

Wind - Akeboshi
Tell me baby - Red hot chili peppers
The magnificent seven - Clash
Stairway to heaven - Led zeppelin
Bodies - Sex pistols
Sweet child o' mine - Guns n' Roses
Dani California - Red hot chili peppers
Paint it black - Rolling stones
Substitute - The who
Black hole sun - Soundgarden
South of heaven - Slayer
Among the living - Anthrax

I could be here all day, but thats a few ;p

Nmb got me through tough times because i could relate to it. there's other songs that cheer me up and other songs i use for advice.

Most of the songs said above i agree with.

Aerosmith - and i don't wanna miss a thing

and my ex (the one im currently talking to in hope of repairing all the pain were in) we had our song..... Jon Bon Jovi - Always

i'll never take that song seriously again

I don't know why, but "That old pair of jeans" by "Fatboy slim" makes a warm, buzzy feeling inside when I listen to it ;O.
