During the special KyoAni & Do Fan Days 2015 event which celebrates various works from Kyoto Animation including 'Amagi Brilliant Park', 'Beyond the Boundary', 'Free!', 'Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions!', 'Tamako Love Story' and the upcoming series 'Myriad Colors Phantom World', Kyoto Animation have announced plans to make a second season and a movie to Hibike! Euphonium (known outside Japan as Sound! Euphonium). No other details have yet to be revealed but more news will follow soon.

Details on the film were revealed on the other hand. The movie will look back at the Spring 2015 television series, which depicted the journey to the prefectural concert band competition. The sequel will depict what happens afterwards.

The first season adapted the 2013 novel of the same name by Ayano Takeda titled Hibike! Euphonium Kitauji Kōkō Suisōraku-Bu e Yōkoso. The story follows the Kitauji High School Concert Band, which used to always advance to national competitions. Ever since the adviser changed, though, it has not advanced past the Kansai tournament. However, thanks to the newly appointed adviser's strict instruction, the students are steadily improving. The band members' daily lives are full of ups and downs including fights over solos and the decision to resign extracurricular activities to focus on studies.

The series is available to stream on Crunchyroll while Pony Canyon have the license to the first season scheduled for 2016.

In September 2013, the renowned Kyoto Animation released Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions: Rikka Takanashi Revision, a cinematic retelling of their television anime series, before the events were followed by an all new sequel series the following year. Today, the studio has announced that another of their recent successes is about to make a similar leap to the big screen.

This April saw the premiere of Sound! Euphonium, a dramatic slice-of-life series following euphonium-player Kumiko Oumae and the rest of Kitauji High School's Band Club's journey to their prefecture's concert band competition. Today, Kyoto Animation announced at their "KyoAni & Do Fan Kansha Event" that the series will be returning with Sound! Euphonium The Movie: Welcome To The Kitauji High School Concert Band, a theatrical retelling of the 13-episode anime season, which will be followed by an all-new anime sequel.

This will mark the tenth cinematic feature from Kyoto Animation, the studio behind renowned hits such as The DIsappearance Of Haruhi Suzumiya and K-ON! The Movie. Their most recent movie, Beyond The Boundary The Movie: I'll Be Here - Mirai-Hen was released in April of this year.

Sound! Euphonium is currently available for streaming on Crunchyroll.

Re: Sound!/Hibike! Euphonium gets a Second Season and Movie!

I tried, but I admittedly just couldn't get into Sound! Euphonium. I will however, take an international release of Tamako Love Story (it has to happen some day, right?).

Can't say I cared massively for Sound! but I'd be up for a second season. Will probably pass on the movie though.

I'm glad to see this get a second season honestly. We watched the first season recently and had said that it deserves a second season, so definitely looking forward to this hitting. I'm guessing they didn't show off fmp so i assume it's no longer kyoani handling it. Ah well.

Very excited about this - the first season was probably my favourite of 2015 along with Death Parade, so hope season 2 can offer more of the same.
