Monster? (SPOILERS)

I just finished watching Monster and have a few questions.

1) Why is Johann so messed up when Grimmer isn't and they both went to the orphanage?

2) Why did Johann go through so much effort getting close to the rich old guy just to burn down that library?

3) Was Nina taken to the Red Rose Mansion or not?

Awesome, I haven't re-read Monster in about five years, so this will be a good excuse. Sorry I don't have any answers right now, though. ^^;
