Mirror's Edge

his game is awesome, but I miss one little thing in it. It needed the ability to replay the stages, while you watch Faith as in a third person game.

What good is a game about pakour if you can't see the moves?
Cos you're experiencing it. Due to way you see your body parts (whereas they are seemingly missing in a lot of first person games), it adds that extra level of realism. Along with the way the character reacts to jumping, landing and other movements.

I see what you mean, but I'm not a big fan of fp games, so I miss this.

this game sucks balls!

it really does... ive had it for like 2 weeks and can barely bring myself to turn it on.

AND i cant even trade it in because its on offer everywhere!

i am not amused!
Such wonderful insight you have.

Seriously, if you aren't going to at least give reasons, I won't even bother with you.

i am as interested in writing my reasons as people are in reading them...

ok... the game does not "suck balls" but personnaly i hate it, its just not my kind of game. its too repeatative... but it looks nice i guess...
Better.

Anyway, I don't get why people say it's repetitive as if that's a valid criticism. The vast majority of games nowadays are repetitive. Call of Duty has been exactly the same ever since the first game and no-one seems to care about that fact.

I'm still playing through it and it's very good my only criticism is the awkwardness of combat e.g. when crouching down behind a car you're still tall enough to get shot, along with often needing to run headlong at an enemy shooting you only to muck up the timing and get one hit ko'ed with a riflebutt (some sort of dodge button to dive to the side would have been handy). But still a good game.

I think that combat is where it lacks the most, although it's all right. combat wise, I think Oni is one of my favourite titles ever.

I prefer that to getting shot with an entire magazine and still surviving like in most games.

I couldn't agree more. Shame about the call of duty style health in that respect.

On topic is still hard for me to believe that EA are the ones behind this game, after years of bad mouthing them for juts repeating the same old game, they come out with some original IPs. The trailers i've seen have sold this game to me, just need a playtest to seal the deal.

EA have started coming out with some great games recently, they did an amazing job with Red Alert 3 and, going by the demo, this game seems great too.

If anything, it's Activision Blizzard that are breaking gaming industry ettiquette. EA have started to redeem themselves in my eyes.

Agreed, they seem to be ********s of the industry atm. The way they go on about Starcraft 2 makes it sound like the second coming of Jesus.

Yeah though they earned by scorn by dropping the Ghostbusters game (thank god someone else picked that up) plus their choice of words when talking about why they kept certain games and dropped others (it boiled down to whether or not they could exploit the franchises or not)

Though it seems that these new IP for EA have been successful as they got a new on on the go, a game based on the Divine Comedy, Dante's Inferno.

Yes, go do that Oni is awesome. Mirror's Edge is awesome as well, but I guess that if it had Oni combat system and a replay from away feature to it, it would be my perfect game.

Alright, I wanted this game since I first saw the gameplay at E3, looked amazing, sadly after burning through it tonight and completing it in one go. Eh. Storyline was a bit crap a rescue story? Seen enough of them with Pixar and animu. Gameplay was like Assassin's Creed first hour is amazing but slowly bores you to death, colour usage and combat system were pretty well done though.

I heard Mirror's Edge sold pretty bad, I think it's got great potential but... they need to change the story and have the game be a sandbox game go where ever you want, etc.

It was innovative and quite a challenge, so I don't see the sandbox argument as something that makes a difference to me. I admit the story was crap, but if the game is fun, that's all that matters to me.

Besides, I don't see how much they could exploit it into a sandbox game since it's very story driven and needs to follow a set path.

Got this yesterday. Undecided, leaning negative.

I love the concept, and the graphics are lovely but one thing is really bothering me. You have to be very precise when performing movements such as jumping to grab onto ledges or wall running, which has lead me to repeated deaths due to simply falling short of a ledge.

Due to the odd choice of autosave points this has lead me to replay some segments so many times it's starting to feel more like a chore than entertainment. I so badly want to like this game but it's starting to remind me of the bad old days of console gaming.

I don't think it's as precise as you say. The only thing that requires perfect timing is disarming.
