Melancholy of Haruhi yadayada S2 Region 1 problems...

I would have thought you would appreciate the intense satire and artistic risk-taking of E8, had I actually expected you to be watching it.

I bet there'd be a massive outcry if they didn't release s2 in English. They can't win. At least this way people can choose not to buy them.

(I'm personally happy to have my E8 discs, though grateful I don't have a setup where the audio issues matter.)

Nope, I genuinely can't tell the difference, even with headphones on. Hearing problems ;p

...therefore we don't have any fancy audio equipment at all, and just use the grotty integrated TV speakers which are halfway across the room. Ignorance is bliss sometimes.

Oh, I've no doubt that's what they had in mind. But I wanted (and had come to expect) entertainment from Haruhi, not profundity. Endless Eight didn't make me think "Oh, jolly good show. You've introduced a polarising element which has proved divisive to the audience and illustrated your ability to shock them out of their comfort zone!" It made me think "This is very boring. Can we have some more stories please?"

Probably, Endless Eight wouldn't have bothered me it the slightest had it formed part of a 100+ episode show. I'd have just written it off as a quirky experiment which didn't work, at least for me. However, as more than half of a short, eagerly anticipated 14 episode season it just proved disastrous to my opinion of the creative staff. Although I'm sure they didn't intend it, it did feel very much like they were taking the piss. I never really felt the rage or annoyance many clearly did, more just... boredom.

Any excuse to post that video. Which reminds me, Higurashi is something I would like to repeat view...

Dissapearence more than makes up for endless eight(if you didn't particularly like it), but I expect that everyone already knew that.

Just as you say the movie was really amazing it beats my idea on how the movie would look after reading the novel beforehand.

Yeah, some people (like this people here) arn't willing to give KyoAni the space to breathe now they've pulled this crap off.

We endure three years of awful visual novel adapations (You can't make gold from crap, Snarky Kyon-MC route for Kannon be damned) and they do that?!

Seriously, before it was over, I was half expecting KyoAni to anounce they gave the rights to Full Metal Panic back to Gonzo just to piss the fanbase off that much more.

On topic, this is about the English release not the show itself.
KyoAni have nothing to do with this, Kadokawa (the licensee, I assume) might do, as might Bang Zoom.

Both seasons of Clannad, Kanon and Air sold very well, the lowest was still ~20k copies.
They also did them at the same time as/between Haruhi, FMP, Lucky Star and K-on!
What are you on about?

FMP:TSR is their worst selling show, at least for as long as I care to check.
That's probaly why they can't be bothered doing more

So did anyone import Bandai's Haruhi S2, or Haruhi-chan V1?

It was like squeezing blood from a stone, but there's finally a replacement program... Reported on ANN

February 18, 2011 (Cypress, CA) –Bandai Entertainment announced today that a small batch of discs featured mono sound on the Japanese audio track for the releases of Haruhi Season 2 (4 discs) and Haruhi Chan Vol. 1 (1 disc).

Customers who purchased discs with the audio issue can contact http://support.bandai-ent.com/ to return the discs they have and receive replacement discs.

Bandai Entertainment Inc. apologizes to its customers for the inconvenience.

I bought both, but I'm not sure I can be bothered going through the replacement process with Bandai since they didn't want to send them to me in the first place. It's sort of impressive that the persistence of the fans finally got them to acknowledge the issue though.

My Haruhi-chan is the general release version so will hopefully be ok anyway when it ships.

Hopefully.

Since losing my job I've been rather out of the loop with anime releases, and Haruhi in particular.
Would anyone be so kind as to explain the situation? Is Manga publishing the second series? When is it likely to arrive, etc.

(G.J. bows low and apologises for his stupidity)

The release schedule has it down for 31st March. But it also has it down incorrectly as a Beez release, when it is Mange doing it. So I don't know if that date is reliable either.

Is Haruhi Chan bundled with S2 as well as Churaya (sp)? I remember reading that somewhere and being saddened at having to reward kyoani, however indirectly, for endless eight. There was just no call for it.

Yes, Haruhi-chan and/or churuya-chan are bundled with S2 (I don't think Jerome realises they aren't the same thing since people have tried to confirm a few times)
