This may just be the first DVD I import from America. I love SZS.

(Though I've heard stuff about ordering overseas. What's the average amount of extra charge for ordering DVDs from America?)

Depends where you buy it from. If it's under the customs limit - and it may well be given the RRP - you shouldn't have to pay any extra charges other than the cost of the item and shipping. If you need help finding a good shop to buy from plenty of people can advise, or you can use UP1/Axelmusic who ship from Europe to avoid any nasty charges :)

I'm all over this release too. I've been wanting it licensed for ages. The ANN thread was hilarious; apparently some of the fansubs used overlays for background text (effectively) so downloaders are begging MB to use overlays on the DVDs to purge all the Japanese. It's strange hearing people clamouring for something so universally hated by DVD fans in the past.

From what I can remember given the sheer amount of background text in some scenes, there would be few other ways to provide sign subs without the entire screen being full of subtitles.

I may or may not buy. I liked the concept and the characters, was less than enamoured with the production style. Different, yes. Artistic, yes. Good? Hmm.

(EDIT: I googled it, apparently it's either £18 or £105?)
Axelmusic? I'll make a note of that.
Would you recommend sites like Play.com or Amazon too? I know the UK versions of those sites sometimes have some US anime releases listed as well as the UK ones.
 
Customs limit is £18. Axel Music and United Publications are excellent, and I'd also recommend keeping an eye on PlayUSA.

150 minutes for $25? Even though I wasn't going to buy any more singles, I'll have me some of that.

Sterling has been subjected to significant losses recently, today being a notably grim day. Though I remain optimistic that $25 will remain less than £18 regarding the monthly rates Customs establish, opting for an Axelmusic "safety import" might nonetheless ensure piece of mind.
 
Is it just me or has there been a lot of sub-only releases recently?
Then again, I suppose that's to be expected, with the demise of ADV and Geneon and all.
But still, not that great for anime this side of the pond.
I wonder if another dub studio will eventually be set up?

Yup and will probably stay that way as well, we don't have many (if any) Mediablaster releases. I mean if they were going to release anything i would kill for GaoGaiGar FINAL.
