We're extremely pleased to announce that Boruto: Naruto the Movie will be heading to UK cinemas this October! Full details to follow soon...

Plot synposis (may contain spoilers for the main Naruto series):
Boruto Uzumaki is the son of Naruto Uzumaki, the Seventh Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village. Having heard stories of Naruto's deeds as a hero, Boruto wishes to surpass his father. Following Sarada Uchiha, Boruto meets his father's friend, Sasuke Uchiha, and requests to be trained by him.

Manga Entertainment have recently picked up the rights to release the other recent Naruto Shippuden movies Road to Ninja and The Last, both of which will be available on Blu-ray and DVD later this year. Blood Prison will also be made available as a standalone Blu-ray release later this year.

I still think it's supposed to be 'Bolt' (ie. Bolt in Japanese = Boruto), but if they wrote it out, visually, it wouldn't have any obvious relation to Naruto if you just saw 'BOLT' on a poster. Maybe I'm wrong though. It just makes more sense - especially when Naruto's dad is nicknamed 'The Yellow Flash'.

They probably couldn't call it Bolt though, because of the other Walt Disney Bolt film. Disney are known to be incredibly litigious, so Viz (or whoever) probably wanted to avoid any potential lawsuit. This kind of thing happens all the time, Tomorrowland was retitled Tomorrowland: A World Beyond in parts of Europe (including the UK) because somebody else owned the name.

I'll certainly go see this if it shows near me; I'm not hopeful of its quality considering the kinds of nonsense that Naruto ultimately descended to, but after following it for 12 years I'll be damned if I don't stick with it until the bitter end. And it's always good to see anime on the big screen, of course - The Last: Naruto the Movie would have been the obvious choice for a theatrical run, but good to see Manga roll out this one since they missed the boat there.

I would have liked to have seen The Last before Boruto, but having read the manga through to the end I'll be happy going to see Boruto and having passed on The Last for now. Hopefully some screenings hit Leeds!

I read the spoiler because I also thought it might be a joke of sorts (it sounds too much like if Sacha Baron Cohen came up with a Naruto title). Not sure I'm ever going to catch back up with Naruto at this stage, so. I dunno.
