When the aristocracy of a flourishing capital are intoxicated by their own corruption, sometimes the only way to return the ivory towers to an untainted white is by spilling red.

At least according to Night Raid; a band of assassins pushing for a bloody revolution in White Fox's incredibly popular, violent and brutal dark fantasy Akame ga Kill, which will be making its way to the United Kingdom courtesy of Manga Entertainment. At this year's MCM London Comic Con, the distributor teased that the series will be receiving a Collector's Edition and today, they have revealed the contents of the highly anticipated set.

While we have yet to learn of a release date for the series, we now know that the Collector's Edition will be housed in a rigid box containing the first twelve episodes across two blu-ray discs and three DVDs, as well as the following extras:

- Hardcover booklet.
- Poster.
- Sticker.
- Temporary tattoos.

Manga Entertainment have also confirmed that more information about the release will be revealed later this week in an interview with Andrew Hewson, who serves as Marketing Manager to both Manga and Animatsu Entertainment.

If you would like to experience a taste of the anime series, it is currently available for streaming via the Crunchyroll service. Takahiro and Tetsuya Tashiro's original manga is currently being published in English by Yen Press.

It's on the Animatsu label though, for what difference that's worth.
As this announcement came from the MangaUK website and social channels with no mention of Animatsu, I wouldn't be surprised if the plan now is to treat it as a core MangaUK title, as opposed to using the Animatsu label. It will be interesting to see what the final mock-up says closer to release, as the artwork provided with today's announcement is the same as Sentai's (just with Mine instead of Esdeath because Manga clearly realise Mine is the better girl):

Not bad at all, really we hope we see more of this kind of release from the company. If they are going to keep the physical format going for marginal items such as anime in the UK, this is the kind of thing you need to do.

I'm getting this, but have no interest in stickers and tattoos. I'd much rather just a chipboard artbox and collector's style digipak / artwork for the disc cases.

Always seems with these kinds of tat (my opinion) they seem to sit in a section of the box that looks cheap and made of flimsy card. Like the HotD one. Box and digipak are gorgeous, but the extra bits section is not sturdy (my box was slightly crushed) and flimsy.

Looking at that specific differing artwork it would seem to me that the spine is on the left in one picture and the right in the other, suggesting that the sets are identical, Manga just chose to show the other side of that box.

Also do we give credit to Manga for showing the poster will come folded to hell?

Looks promising. Kinda surprised at the form factor seeing as Jerome always seemed to be keen at having BD's in BD size boxes. My preference too although I'll make an exception if art books etc turn out better because of it...

I will pre-order this once it comes up on Amazon . The only thing I'm worried about is that if the collector's edition doesn't sell well we won't get the part 2 collector's edition .

While I will be definitely buying this, and it's nice to counter the people that complain that the UK never gets collectors sets, I have to admit I don't feel overly great about this set. I'm sure Jerome said they planned to never do Blu-Ray/DVD combo sets again?

Like others have said, I have no real care for stickers/poster etc. - the only thing that interests me is the book + the show itself.

It annoys me too that the box is pretty big - especially when combined with the second cour, it's going to take up a heck of a lot of space on the shelf.

I'd almost be inclined to say this might harm sales too, as I imagine the likes of HMV will be less willing to stock a shelf-space heavy release like this than a standard amaray.

I'm pretty sure that price will come down by the time of release. With Amazons pre-order price guarantee, people could order it and then check the order a couple of weeks before release. See what it dropped to. If it's still out of peoples price range or more than they are willing to pay, just cancel it.

I'm actually surprised that there isn't any angry comments on facebook or twitter about the pricing, but the announcement was buried by all the Boruto posts...

Manga don't seem to be promoting the pre-order link. I'm wondering if we're not actually supposed to have seen it at that price, and they just got the listing up in order to meet the deadline Andrew Partridge mentioned when Noein and the other AL titles leaked.

If the actual price of the set turns out to be £85.99 I'll be...very surprised, to say the least. I would honestly expect an RRP to about half that.

The RRP according to Amazon is £89.99 (well, the list price field is not populated, but the show a £4 discount on the £85.99 price), although their price will eventually be lower.

If £89.99 is the RRP then the lowest you can expect this to drop to on amazon in all reality is around £60. You look at maybe saving 30-35% off the rrp with most pre-orders, sometimes more, sometimes less, but this is usually a decent point to base it around.

As a comparison, Nadia had the RRP of £69.99 and dropped to £46 prior to release.
