Btw there are a few stores that still sell katana's, i know there's one in brighton, i was tempted to buy one to bring home....but transporting it on the trains - it's not worth the risk.

You are ok so long as it is boxed up tight in such a way as to render it harmless for the journey.

Yeah i wondered if they'd put it in a box or just wrap it up or put it in a blatant sword case. Either way, i might take a closer ganders when i next visit the south coast.

Also, make sure you get a receipt! You can use it to prove you bought it that day and are taking it home, and that you are not just carrying it around to do some killing.

It is a fact that very few householders have ever been prosecuted for actions resulting from the use of force against intruders.

Tell that to Duncan Ferguson ;)

If this is the case about the farmer and the repeated burgalries of his house, then as the link I used shown, he anticipated them and (probably) hadn't got the police involved.

The link clearly states that the police should be informed, and the reasonable force must be just that - reasonable. In that case, the intruders were downstairs, he was upstairs, and he shot at them from upstairs. He was endangering himself there as they had no intention to go upstairs to attack him, just rob him. You could argue using a gun is reasonable, but the law doesn't see it so.

I think it's wrong myself too, your property, it's natural you'd want to defend it. But, his case was an exception as most people do contact the police and use reasonable force.

Right....Bar letting Byron rip them limb from limb.....if i'm going to shoot the stupid b@st@rd for trying to rob me.....go downstairs first.

Any laws against owning a air pistol and shooting someone in the face when they try to rob your home?

We'll you'd need to be downstairs before they enter in a way that doesn't suggest you pre-meditating this. Sitting on the sofa with a gun is a no go ;) lol. Also, sitting in the dark/silence will be a no go.

With an air pistol it's unlikely to kill, it'd be smarter to aim to a non-vital area though. Arms and legs are good, I should imagine. Reasonable force, I'd say if you pinned him down or knocked him out and then rang the police, that'd be fair though.

Thats no fun :(
They taught us control and restraint and break away training at the NHS....If someone was breaking into my house it'd be a shame to waste the chance to beat the little skumbag to a pulp for trying to rob me.

At best; dislocate both arms and knock them unconscious. then call the police.

Only ever used that air pistol a couple of times. and that was when me and my dad where shooting cans at the bottom of the garden to see who was a better shot (armed forces background)
