Madmen question

Combat Butler
Hey guys I want to order from the Madmen site but I was wondering what your history has been like with them. Also will there be any hidden changes for me to pay when it gets delivered to my house? Any feedback on this would be great! :D

I'm interested to hear how folks have got on ordering from Madman as well.

Madman, I believe, released a statement shortly after Bandai's announcement regarding cessation of production. It sounded pretty hopeful for folks looking to get hold of certain bits and bobs.

Also - was there not talk of Patlabor OVAs via Madman at some point? Definitely peeps to keep an eye on.

I'm also potentially interested in ordering from them.

I wonder if anyone has a list of series/films they've released which no one else has (or that are deleted). Or even recommendations on any sets they do better than the UK/US counterparts.

I quite fancy buying a copy of Mind Game but I can't justify an import for that film alone.

Madman provide a service fit for purpose. Their delivery costs and delays are in line with one's expectations for Australasian shipping. When last I patronised them I was not 'stung', though I'd expect that was due to luck as opposed to a mislabelled Customs declaration.

I would advise comparing their prices against those of other R4 retailers. By purchasing Madman or Siren products from a third party, savings to the tune of several dollars can be made.

(Aside from the occasional R4 eBay reseller though, I'm unfortunately unaware of which third parties to trust.)

Dennou Coil. If I had money I would have it already (to go with the Japanese discs from from back when I did)

Yeah I have the fansub downloaded from a couple of years ago. Great series. Definitely buying thata t some point, can't see it ever beign licensed over here, no cute girls/panty shots/robots/blood etc...

Just received my first order from Madman. Arrived within 5 days, extremely well packaged.

I think you probably would have to pay import duty/tax if you made an expensive order, but I only ordered 1 film. They did underdeclare ont he customs form though (declared DVD value at $5 when I paid $15) which means you'd probably be taxed less than you might be ordering from elsewhere.

All in all I'm pretty happy with them. Great looking products too.

Yeah, I had the same experience as FourthLion...the DVD arrived in under a week, with the same customs thing.

They got a bit carried away with the packaging though...it was only one two-disc DVD, but it was sent in a box that could have fit five or six DVDs in it.

Not a major issue, but probably worth noting if there's no one home when the Parcel Force van comes...it won't come through your letterbox.

I got this too, I saw it on my doorstep and got so excited and then after opening saw it was just a single DVD case. Ah well. Better than awful packing and a broken case...
