Synopsis

The series will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original Super Dimension Fortress Macross TV series (1982~1983), and will be a direct sequel to its follow-up Macross 7 (1994~1996). This third TV series will feature the U.N. Spacy's latest main variable fighter, the VF-25 and a new spaceship called the Macross Frontier.

On the Macross timeline, the story is set on the year 2059. The series features the 25th colonial fleet, dubbed the Macross Frontier, en route near the galactic center

Huge aliens, jets that turn into robot fighters and troops wearing flight suits, what more can you want, how about a hero (Saotome Alto) who everyone thinks is a women and is never happy when people point this out to him or jokingly call him Princess.

Loving - The jets (codenamed VF-25) ability to break apart and shed armour, weapons and entire chunks of itself in order to fight more freely with enemies. Giant bug like aliens (think Starship Troopers) hich are pretty much indestructable and a hell of a lot faster than standard fighter jets.

I just wish slightly more was given away in the first ep, I can't wait to see ep 2 and see how our hero does up against a huge tank like space beattle.

hmmmm worth trying to watch if all i've seen is macross plus?

YES!!! even though ep 2 doesn't air till April

APRIL..... dammit if I had had known that I would have left the series alone until then, I hate it when this happens.

I have only seen Macross Plus and this is a fine follow on in my opinion, as a brief back story to why everyone is in space is given at the start of episode 1

My review for ep 1 with pics

I have my reservations but as first episodes go, it was great. The varitech action's on par with Macross Zero and it even has a cliffhanger at the end. I'm *hoping* this is going to be great. At least it offers some more Yoko Kanno OST goodness. :D

As far as first episodes go it was by far the best i've seen.

Really can't wait to see how this series turns out.

Worth a watch if I've seen absolutely nothing off the franchise? Hah. =#

I've only seen the Macros Plus OVA and I could pick this series up, can't see any reason why you would need to see the earlier series as it explains the history in the pro-logue
