Looking for new series

I've run out of anime to watch and I need some recommendations. I haven't really been following anime released in the last couple of years-08/09. Has there been anything decent at all? I tend to like stuff that's at least slightly serious and generally science fiction or light fantasy.

Any suggestions?

Do you mean new as in recently aired in Japan or new as in recently released on DVD? My interest has been piqued by I.G.'s Ghost Hound, the first collection of which is released in the US by ADV at the end of the month.

Either, and by recently I meant 2008/2009.

Also I think Death Note is a bit too supernatural for me and I might be wrong but I don't think Lucky Star/Haruhi are too serious.

I might check out Technolyze. The plot sounds kind of interesting.

Hope some of those help. 07 Ghost is the only really recently aired one though. No idea about DVD releases though- I don't follow 'em.
 
Apparently Death Note is quite good. You should give it a try.


Lost Universe is good if you like Slayers, since it is essentially Slayers in Space, just with a new cast.
