lock your cars or else the police might steal from you!

"I need that report in by tomorrow. Have it made on your laptop word processor, and give it me back in the morning..."

Hours later, the poor yet careless worker finds out his laptop is now at a police station... The report was handed to his superior with mistakes up and down the pages, being sleep deprived...

It's a good shock tactic, but it can really mess up someone's schedule.

that may work....only after hacking their way into my laptop. other then that i set passwords for my files, they wouldn't get far without keylogging me first. and i think i'll notice a flash drive sticking out my machine

Not if they've got it at the station and your back at your car thinking "WTF WHERE'S MY LAPTOP?"

And anyway... there are always ways to get access to your machine....i mean if i really wanted to i could go through all your posts looking for a pic that you have uploaded and then saving it and opening the microdata files and it'll have your IP address on that. through that if your connected to the internet whilst i'm doing it....i could hack your machine and over ride anything you try to do with it.

Not that i would though.....there's no gain in hacking.

likewise only i could wipe half your data from your machine.

but theres no merit involved so i wouldn't bother

Almost willing to challenge you to try that :p
i'll back up my machine onto my externy then go ahead :)

(considering this is a government PC that i use to access this website and very rarely do i log in from home....might be fun to see you hack an NHS machine lol)

How much do you know about hacking?

not an awful lot, since i have to learn things by myself 90% of the time

Its better to use it to protect your machines from hackers than actually being a hacker yourself anyway.

true i'd rather do that, but you have to know their mind view so as to combat it

You know how in cop shows they seize deviants' computers and bring them back to the lab for some good ol' latex gloved analysis to prove how obviously guilty or sick the suspect is? That's old hat. Microsoft's latest treat for law enforcement is COFEE (Computer Online Forensic Evidence Extractor), a USB drive that'll cut through whatever flimsy security miscreants have slapped on their computer in a flash, and then automatically analyze the dirty bits the cops need to bust their ass, from internet activity to stored data, no pwnage skillz or trips to the lab needed. Microsoft's giving the wonder tube to lawmen for free, and 2,000 officers in 15 countries are already using it. But will it work on Macs?
Microsoft Cofee.

It's Richmond. The value of the goods they lost to police theft was probably of no importance to them. I've seen houses there with three cars per drive.
