List of edited manga

Heh, I just went to check my version of Battle Vixons (that came with the Ikki Tousen volume 1 + artbox that came from MVM all that time ago) and there is no "100% Authentic Manga" anywhere on either cover (front and back), but on the first page (reading from left to right), it says this is 100% Authentic Manga, where none of the artwork has been altered or flipped, etc etc. So Tokyopop have lied to us I see. Lawsuit time 8 ).

To be honest, most of the edits are centered around nudity. If you would do so much as to boycott a company because they moved a couple of monochrome nipples from a comic, I think you're just paranoid about the idea that everything must be 100% identical to the source manga, or perverted. They really only make tiny minor edits, I don't see why it's such a big deal.

The manga I mentioned above was Battle Vixens.
I think 'Art edits: Snakes added to covers to hide certain body parts.
Story changes: Dialog heavily rewritten to the point that parts of the story are significantly changed' is a tad more than removing nipples.

Sorry, I was making a generalised comment not directed at anyone in particular. I do disapprove of editing to such an extent (though I'm not a fan of BV).

The real problem is that Americans have this wierd problem with showing nipples, and that the Manga publishers are responding to that. It seems that Viz believes, that nudity in manga is fine so long as we don't see the nipples. That's long been something that has struck me as odd.

A lot of these edits aren't that big, GTO is mainly the removal of a swastika and making the characters older. Battle Vixens is an edit to the cover, and an exceptionally arrogant translator (The manga was translated by American comic artist, Keith Giffen, who decided that he could improve the manga by completely rewriting it - he did the same to the Battle Royale manga apparently). Quite few of the Viz ones are name changes done purely to fit with edited anime dubs. There are some travesties in the list, but most are only minor changes.
