Yeah, i think there might be something more to him, his coldness and his mannerisms maybe suggests something in his that happened in his past, i look forward to finding out more

I was surprised when I found out what had happened in his past.

He's a particularly multi-faceted character in that he appeals to just about everyone, with his backstory, his manner, his looks and his importance to the plot; I'd say he's a more developed character than any other in Last Exile.

Yes it does seem that way.

@necromancer_1983, i'm really looking forward to watching more and finding out more about him now....but then i was anyway

I felt a need to up this thread after recently acquiring and watching the fourth volume of it. I can say with great confidence that it is certainly the best one to date, and at last it develops a few of the more "mysterious" characters of the series.

I didnt really like the latest volume as much. It felt a bit too crammed with revelations. Like it was rushed.

Play emailed me on Sunday about it being sent so i just can't wait to get it, then i will really enjoy being able to make up my mind what i thought of it as well

Maybe you think that because several new storylines were introduced, which I can understand. When something like that happens, I usually give whatever it is a second watch because some anime I've seen definitely requires that to fully grasp what's going on. Didn't you think Claus's relationships with Alex, "Sophia" and Tatiana were fleshed out much more though?

Yes I suppose that was a good thing, although Tatiana's personality changed towards Claus suprisingly quickly, which is something else I felt was a little rushed.

I half-agree with you on that, although given
the magnitude of their situation at the time, and the Tatiana's effort of keeping up that veneer, it was always going to be a quick change if/when it did happen.

I really enjoyed this volume, it was great finding out more about Alex's past and also Claus and Lavie's.
I didn't really think it was rushed at all, in fact i found it quite the opposite as it had quite a few trips back to the past. I have to say honestly Claus is like some sort of girl magnet, i can understand because he's so nice to everyone, but really, now he's so confused. I really don't like Tatiana, that type of character just always seems really annoying to me, people like lavie are always about for people like Tatiana, and i really like Lavie, though i wish she would go back to being Claus's navigator

Looks like in a minority with my opinions on this volume. The majority of revelations just felt to me like they occoured overnight with no real build up other than they "just happend". But as I say, I still like the show and hopefully the next volume will restore my faith in it.

Just wondering if anyone has bought the Original Soundtracks, i was just concerdering it, but wasn't sure which one would be best between the first and second

I have the first one, and I must say it is quite superb, especially for "Skywriting", i.e. the song that plays when it's a flashback to the whole Claus and Lavie's deceased dads era.

Yes, the first LE soundtrack is very good, I like it more and more each time I listen to it, although I'm not so keen on some of the later instrumental tracks. I don't have the second soundtrack but I've listened to samples on amazon and it appears to maintain the same consistent quality, but even so I'd say to start with the first one as you get the excellent opening and ending theme on there.
