The 2015 Kotatsu Japanese Animation Festival runs on Saturday, October 10th this week at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre. The films that are programmed are the same ones seen at the Cardiff run of the festival minus Perfect Blue. There might be one title missing but what is left is a selection of some of the best titles in anime history and some truly dazzling and amusing shorts to also enjoy.
Here’s a look at the festival line-up with times and durations. Click on the titles to get taken to a webpage where you can find out more about the films and order tickets.
Aberystwyth: Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Saturday 10th October 2015
10:25 Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise 121 mins
12:45 A Letter to Momo 120 mins
15:00 Tiger & Bunny: The Rising 108 mins
17:05 Short Peace
Extra Short Films that play before Short Peace:
Maku 5m 26s
The Night of the Naporitan 6m 18s
The Small Garden 12m 22s
This is only the second time that the Kotatsu Japanese Animation Festival has run at Aberystwyth but the festival organisors have a lot of experience and are coming from a highly successful run at Cardiff’s Chapter Arts centre where there were many screenings that were sold out and moved to bigger cinemas to allow more people to see the film. With Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise and A Letter to Momo on screen, there is much to watch.
The Kotatsu Japanese Animation Festival was launched in November 2010 and aims to screen the best in Japanese animation and culture to a wide audience. To find out more about the festival, check out the festival website, follow them on Twitter, and read more about the films in the preview published on Anime UK News earlier this year.
