Meh not too fussed really, like Stu says it could lead to a third season, which if it does I'll probably watch, I don't see the point in buying a manga which is a four panel gag strip

I'd love to see some elaboration on "not seeing the point" of 4koma, which is surely the all time most dominant format of comics in any language.

Yeah, not all of them are one-off gags. A lot have reoccuring characters and on-going storylines. Cartoons are for kids, yo.

Hetalia's crazy US sales lately also seem to imply that the manga fandom can support purchasing such a format (the manga isn't 100% 4koma but it's close enough, and it seems to be selling in huge quantities alongside more 'traditional' manga books).

I agree that the likelihood of this news leading to more animated K-On! in future seems high.

I just find it weird having a volume full of them, usually you only have say two or three strips in say a newspaper

And to answer those expectations...it does indeed look like the manga will follow Yui, Mio, Muigi and Ritsu in University!

There is also going to be a separate manga for Azu-nyan, Ui and her friend which follows them in Highschool

I don't really discuss K-ON! on here because even though I like the series; these 2 separate manga's & movie announcements make it hard for me to say that (these creators) are taking advantage of its popularity.

I do trust that they will make some good stuff though.
