It's question time again folks. :)

Just a couple of quickies :)

Well, ok, maybe not quite quickies, I tend to waffle on a bit. 8)

1, Without giving spoilers, what are peoples thoughts on Martian Successor Nadesico: Prince Of Darkness?

I've just finished watching the DVDs of the series that I bought in the ADV sale, and I want to know what happens next, but i've read that the movie spoils the ending - is this true? ( And, how come given the ending of the series, and the fact that it's been voted best series ever - or something like that - in Japan, they never made a second series? )

2, I want to get the follow-up series to Divergeance Eve ( I know, not a fantastic series, but it's quite watchable and had one of those WTF? endings. Thing is, I want to know what happens next. - And I really hate not knowing what happens next in things. lol. ) And as it's looking more and more like ADV UK arn't going to release the series, it looks like i'm going to have to import. So basicly my second question is :

Can anyone recommend a good site for importing DVDs from the States? However... I don't have a credit card so idealy i'd prefer one that accepts Paypal. ( I 'can' get access to a credit card though so you can still recommend places that don't do Paypal, but it would really be a pain in the bum to have to get access to that credit card. )

1) A lot of people seem to dislike it but I quite enjoyed the film, I'd give it a 4/5. It's let down by the way it ends, Deus Ex like and very quickly, when the film could have been slightly longer and a bit more in depth. Without giving any spoliers, the movie leaves things open, even though I'd like to see another series I doubt it'll happen anytime soon, if at all.

Aw, balls. :( So even if I watch it, I still won't find out how it all ends. Stuff it, I'll buy it, might as well give it a watch anyway.

O..K.. A prequel that takes place 'after' the first series.  , Just because it involves time travel don't make it a prequel yo' crazy foo! :p ( Ee I sounded just like BA out of the A-Team for a second then. :) )

don't look at me, ADV are the ones sending the e-mails out about the "prequal" of it lol

i've not even finished season 1 yet :(

United Publications seem pretty good to me. They accept everthing but Paypal. But surely you've got a debit card if not a credit card? But anyway, they'll even take cash!

And they're fast. If it's in stock you'll get it the next day. Well everything that I've ordered from there has done.

I ordered Divergence Eve from them. Had to see the rest of it as I saw the first episodes and I got hooked despite, like Ryo Chan, hating the very annoying 3D CG and the OTT breasts.

Let me know if the post pre-sequal follow up (or whatever it is) is worth watching if you do see it.

Otaku UK take postal orders, cheques and Paypal and can order anything you want, plus they don't charge P&P for DVDs or CDs.

The one thing you need to be aware of with the Nadesico movie is it lacks everything the TV series had. There's no humour, it's very dark, very depressing and if the light hearted humour is what you loved about Nadesico, you might not want to bother.

Hehe, sorry couldn't resist.

To be honest, I watched the first episode on Youtube right after I finished watching Eve, ( I know, shoot me now, i'm a heretic, ) and you could probably class Misaki Chronicles as a bit of both, prequel and sequel. :p

harkins & Miaka-chan, Thanks for those, i'll give those a look at later when I get a bit more time. As for having a debit card... well... I only have an Electron card  and not many places take those because they're crap. lol ( I'd end up on a spending rampage if I had any other type of card. lol. )

And Nadesico being depressing, what the hell made them decide to go that route? Nedesico's supposed to be light hearted. Hmm, not sure about getting it now then, I hate depressing, but I sooooo want to know what happens next. :(

-EDIT-

Just had a quick look at Otaku Uk. Yay : Pay-Pal and Electron. Ohhhhh I feel a rampage coming on. lol

( Also, I just spotted the Web links button leading to the shopping links at the top, God, 'how' observent am I. - Doh! lol  )

You have been warned
It is a total 180 from the TV series. Everyone has a different personality, but especially Akito and Yurika. You really may not like what has been done to them and like me, may even regret having watched it!
It's a bit like the difference between Rurouni Kenshin the TV series and Kenshin/Samurai X: Reflection :(

Also bear in mind that many US shops are getting very very picky about accepting Pay Pal, or any oher payment escrow service where the provider can choose to keep all the money in your account for whatever reason.

Also many specialist anime/manga shops in the US require ridiculous levels of approval on your part if you own a european/asian issued credit card.

Its not like us credit card holders have easier choice of import shops.

But like others have mentioned, United Publications do postal orders. They also visit various cons, clubs and such, and you can arrange to collect at those cons.

Also check out Otaku.co.uk who may have a similar payment-friendly policy.

I already mentioned Otaku's payment options!!
The good thing about them is you can pre-order stuff and unlike UP1, you don't have to pay for it til it comes into stock ^__^

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo-*breath*-ooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

Now I really don't know if I want to watch it or not, :? But I 'really' want to. Arrrrghhhhh! Damn you, you damn dirty apes!!!! ( Eh? What do you mean I actually typed that last bit? Er... Nothing to see here, move along! )

I have no Idea what that is. :?

Yes you did. :D And they take both Visa Electron and Paypal, so it looks like i'll be ordering the Misaki Chronicle DVDs from them. It seems like it'll work out the same as if I were buying UK disks from Play, so i'm quite happy with that. :)

.....and you're better off staying that way!
The biggest mistake I made in my anime viewing was watching Samurai X: Reflection. Kenshin's whole character was changed and turned into something unrecognisable - nasty!

That's a bit too extreme, it's certainly darker and more serious, but there is humour there, and I remember chuckling at a few scenes, especially the bits where the characters are getting back together, some of the new guys on Nadesico B, and a certain part of the ending is done humourously (you know, the womaniser guy etc.). It's no grave of the fireflies, but it is still a change I agree. I happened to like Akito's new personality, it was interesting.

About Kenshin, I haven't seen the series but have a large part of it that I haven't watched. Apparently lots of fans and the manga-ka have disowned Samurai X, as it ends completely differently to the manga, and changes the character a lot. For the true ending, you apparently have to read the last manga arc that wasn't animated when the anime was cancelled.

Yes. I found it absolutely awful. It has extremely little in common with the Tv series in truth, since just about ever character's personality is different, totally out of character. Indeed the entire film is out of character. And the plot, while it could perhaps have worked with some more work, and especially more time (and changing back some characters) could of worked in part, but in all, it is crap.

Not quite the worst anime purchase i have made, but in the top ten worst easilly. Avoid like the plague in my eyes.

If you do find the sequel to the Divergence Eve series let me know as I have bought it twice each time from different sites and every time its been the first series

Oo. That dosn't sound good. :?

I've ordered it from Otaku, but as they didn't have it in stock, I guess I'll find out in a few weeks.

Just an update for McIcy, didn't think it right to make a new thread just for this and this seemed like a good enough spot. :D ( I just hope he reads it. lol )

My Misaki Chronicle DVDs arrived today from Otaku UK. All 3 of 'em, nice and shiny in all their region 1-ness.

Havn't watched any of them yet though, as I only remembered today. - The only DVD player in the house that could play multi-region DVDs, blew up a few weeks ago.

So I have to try and find my 'Region X' disk ( or whatever the hell it's called, ) for my PS2 before I can watch them.

Cheers for the update Tasker, let me know if the dvd's have a 100% sequel and I'll order mine.
