iPhone gaming

One of the most appealing things about the iPhone for me is that there's a lot of great apps available for it, some pretty inventive games among them. I'll be picking up the Metal Gear Solid and Resi games later but after that I don't know where to go, so I'd appreciate some recomendations and opinions on iPhone gaming in general :)

Theres a game thats pretty much like zelda. when i get a chance i'll txt my mate to find out what its called.

I can give you a list of what i have if that helps?

MotoChaser - Cheap little tilt motorbike racer
Glyder - Cheap little flying game (feels a bit like pilot wings)
Trace - Freebie puzzle game!
Flight Control - Flying puzzle game where you land multiple airplanes
Rolando - Amazing loco roco clone (one of the best iphone games)
Crystal Defence - Final Fantasy Tactics tower defense game, demo on the store but the full game is £4.99!!

Hope that helps!

I bought the excellent Crystal Defenders, and I'm somewhat ashamed to say, The Sims 3, which I'm also secretly enjoying rather too much.

Thanks y'all! There really is a massive selection of games on iTunes. Zombieville is pretty good, but it seems like it's a one trick pony so I don't think I'll upgrade to the full version. I'll be sure to check out Crystal Defenders :]

Anyone played Kroll? It's looks impressive and it was only 79c.

The use of the word "was" implies you've already bought it, so why not try yourself?

Or in the event that you used the word "was" to explain to use there has been a price rise, then could you tell us how much it is now?

Oh wow, just found out that that Square Enix have games for iPhone, and that Crystal Defenders game is one of them :]

Yeah, I had bought it but not played it by then. It looks pretty amazing, but it's a standard side-scrolling action yarn as far as I can see. Doesn't mean it's not fun (it is; also it can pretty difficult sometimes) though. Also really liking the look of Prison Tycoon!

I must say- the major thing that puts me off is its horrific battery life. I hear some struggle to last the duration of a call. Has this been an issue for you thusfar?

Well, if you make 5 hours long call, then yep, that would be an issue.
I only do some iphone gaming while commuting, so I never spent more than 2 hours day playing on it. But I do talk a lot, considering I've got a nice package. I'm also regularly checking my email there, so I'd say althought its battery is not impressive, everything else is. What makes it pretty good.

You can always get that battery gadget as well, if you need to extend its usage

I've been playing lots of iPhone games! Kroll looks great but it's the standard side-scrolling affair. Flight Control, Knights Onrush, MGS: Touch and Prison Tycoon are all very unique and very fun. Sally's Spa is just mindless fun, but fun nonetheless. The Square Enix games seem pretty difficult; I struggled to get through the demos :/ They're Square Enix though, so I'll be buying them for sure before too long.

Has anyone played Myst on iPhone? Is it worth getting? I've heard it's a very frustratingly difficult game which is putting me off an awful lot but it's fame keeps attracting me to it. iDracula looks pretty cool too, anyone played that?

Yup, battery life is pretty poor on the iPhone. I've always had a charger nearby and when I don't, I avoid playing games and such, so it hasn't been a problem yet but it's definitely noticeably weak and the only complaint I have to speak of with the iPhone.

Oooh, Resident Evil 4 for the iPhone. Lol, there's nothing Capcom won't port that game to. Still, it looks quite impressive (controls look a bit cumbersome, but that's probably because the person playing the game isn't used to them yet). I still need to get around to buying RE: Degeneration on the iPhone, which looks awesome :]

I have a few of the things like iMob and card games which are okay to waste a bit of time once in a while. I have tried a few of the rpgs and adventure game demos but most of them just annoyed me with the controls with my thumbs taking up half the screen.

will they have a free demo? depending on how the controls work, I might get it.

the villagers i think its called.

basically a chibi version of the sims castaway.
good fun for a while...they actually die if you don't play the game enough to look after them lol might aswell just call it tamagotchi.

I presume there will be as there almost always is with big games. It plays exactly the same as the RE: Degeneration game, as far as I can see from that video anyway, so you should download the demo for that game to get a feel for it :]

I'm seconding Rolando/Rolando 2. Possibly the best....

I have a demo of it and it looks like a lot of fun but I'm pretty shocked at how overtly obvious they made it that they were cloning LocoRoco and putting it on iPhone, lol.
