Finished watching Intial D - First Stage a few days ago, and I am still buzzing

Synopsis:

Takumi spends his nights delivering tofu for his hard drinking dad Bunta. For five years, 18-year-old Takumi has been delivering tofu in his father's obsolescent Toyota AE86 every morning. Not only has he become a good racer, but he has also unwillingly perfected the art of drifting. Asked to drive this AE86 in a David and Goliath race against the Redsuns (a street racing team famous in there area for defeating any team they face), a glorious but unexpected victory awakens the competitive genes in his blood while his overnight fame inevitably leads to hellraising races one after another, each more exciting, difficult and perilous than the last...

One of the best animes I have ever seen, kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the series. The races are spectacular and seem to merge between 2D and 3D graphics. The pace is immense and I have to say I am glad I paid out for the boxset cause there is no way I could have watched it in a standard airing schedule, infact I ended up watching the the first 14 episodes in one night, didin't get to bed til gone 2am as I was so hooked on it .

(If you've seen the live action movie buy this its just as good and the characters and story are different enough that it won't feel likeyour watching the same thing again..... if you haven't seent the live action movie BUY IT )

i bought the Initial D live action movie dvd as soon as it released on R3 (original hong kong version)
and boy that film was a big let down.
the characters were so .......i cant even find the word! the main character had that non-stop emo look on his face.
the races were kinda good, and thats it, everything else was really so, so. i dont understand why this film got such high expectations, and good possitive views on it,
basically on the acting side of things, it was poor imho.

I think its cause people were expecting a more Hollywood Fast and Furious styled film, if you watch the series you get more of an idea of why Takumi is quiet and reserved and I think they nailed it in the movie. The down hill scenes were well filmed, much better than the new Tokyo Drift movie where every corner seemed to be CG and the drivers appeared detached from the cars they were driving.

Maybe Initial D will be like the argument over Marmite, you either love it or hate it

i wasnt expecting a hollywood style (or f&f style) movie.
i was expecting somethig more unique since the Inital D franchise is many years old, and there are many faithfull fans to it also. so i was expecting something that could grab my attention...it did but i wouldnt watch it again...unless i was forced to lol.
well this is mostly probably because i'm not into Inital D.
oh well, i guess its like mcicy said....you wither like it or not.
