If you were forced to own only ONE anime series on DVD...

Utena. If I could only have one actual DVD, it would be the movie.

I love plenty of things but that series I think I could watch a million times without getting tired of it :)

i have seen a lot of excellent anime down the years but if i had to own only one it would have to be fruits basket. no other anime has ever touched me with such great characters.

This is hard but I would probably have to say Tenchi. Although if I was being cheeky I would say all 7 seasons of Ranma.

Probably out of my current anime DVD selection (which isn't a lot...) is Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.

I still adore this anime to this day. But if I have every anime DVD in the world, and I have to keep one... then it has to be Shakugan No Shana (including the second) because... it's just plain awesome =D *is a sucker for anime based on Philophiscal beliefs*

Heh, the same series hasn't been said twice yet. :D It just goes to show how opinions can differ greatly from one person to the next.

I find myself often putting a random volume of Azumanga Daioh, always makes me smile, mainly it's the only series to me that doesn't matter which episode I watch.

Everything else to me, makes me watch them start to finish.

I'll go with Lunar Legend Tsukhiime, mainly for the reason that it is one of the only series which i could probably sit and watch on repeat day after day, plus i fell in love with it the first time i saw it :p

I’m following Duskin and going for Azumanga Daioh and largely for the same reason. I can think of better series and ones that I’ve enjoyed more, but as good as they are I don’t think they’d be anywhere near as re-watchable.

I wouldn't own one, because if the entire series is on one DVD, it's got to be a bootleg =P

Seriously, though... Cowboy Bebop. I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet. Does this mean I can be the resident CB fan?
