- Thoughts on the story so far-​

Perilous Trail Event

Perilous Trail event story is quite fascinating. I like the seriousness of a dangerous situation the group were facing and how each character had their honest view on it.

Yelan is definitely a fresh addition to the story. An enigma who slaps harsh reality into the faces of the naive and doesn't beat around the bush.

Kuki is the Arataki gang's carrier and that's all I know so far. Gotta wait for more screen time with her to see what else she has to offer.

Right after the event story, the writing goes right back to being bland once more with Yelan's Story Quest unlocked. Boring beginning running errands as usual. Though we get a nice deceptive twist towards the end only for the careful planning to fall flat when Traveler and the gang swoops right in to save the day.

Genshin is an absolute blessing and has made a huge impact on the mobile / anime style gaming industry. However the story is extremely mediocre and featured characters simply fade away leaving no time to appreciate them.

HoYoverse needs to replace the story writers soon because once 3.0 drops and it still lacking, many players will simply burnout and lose interest. Competition is on the horizon and it won't take long until someone else makes a better product. They gotta snap out of it, stop counting the gacha cash and awaken that burning passion in creating a gacha game like no other.

They definitely need a better story arc for the next region. Inazuma was good but it fell off in half way through due to how they were telling the story.
Characters falling off isn't bad here mostly because they pick things back up in various events, but it can take time to actual get to them again. Unless they are Zhongli, then he'll be back whenever he's nearby.

Agreed plus the archon quest for that region was too short. They should've taken time to expand upon the civil war further. Instead we have Traveler bonk a hikikomori archon with their dull blade and do some talk no jutsu. Voila, end of main story and everybody is now happy or either dead

We can never get enough of Zhongli and his love for Osmanthus Wine. Though by the end of Chapter 1, I initially thought that farewell would be the last we see of him.

Agreed. Now the extra story events for the shogun have helped her case a lot, but a lot of Inazuma's islands is extra content in the world, when early on it really should have played a larger role in what was going on. Instead about 3 islands are entirely unrelated to the conflict, baring the reactor on one to a degree. While I do like having these extra story events in these side quests, it works best when they link into the story too. The Watasumi island one worked better than some mainly because it had other content on the island beside that, so it could successfully setup the later content there, but other islands basically were pit stops on the journey. Which sucks as they weren't small islands either. They had a lot to explore.

Yeah. I can't deny I don't like having him around, as he's one of my favourite characters, but at the time it felt like farewell because there had not been many events yet bringing back in characters.

I absolutely appreciate anything relating to Middle Eastern culture and history even if inspired in fictional media. I'm really feeling Sumeru but just pray the story can live up to the great setup so far

The finalized Sumeru OST is doing wonders to my ears, it's really resurfacing my joy for Genshin Impact
