Spirited Away has never been on Film4. I don't think they have the rights to it. The last time it was shown was last Christmas on BBC2. I think Film 4 and Channel 4 only have the rights to the older Ghiblis, pre-Spirited Away.

I don't think you're wrong several films seem to have been show a number of times each over crimbo.
 
I only actually managed to watch The Cat Returns and Only Yesterday. Like Chaos said, the times were outragious.
I would have stayed up to watch Little Norse Prince after Only Yesterday, but I was too tired.

Both were still great films though, The Cat Returns is my favourite Studio Ghibli film.

EDIT: I don't think the BBC 2 showing of Spirited Away was the most recent. I'm pretty sure a few months after either BBC3 or BBC4 aired it as part of some worldwide animation season, along with Belleville Rendez-Vous (Great French animation, BTW).
 
Studio Ghibli is fantastic and I'm happy their works are receiving the recognition they so deserve.

My favourite anime of all time is Hayao Miyazaki's "Princess Mononoke", its so good that everyone should experience this film.

Some of my favourite animes are from Studio Ghibli like; Grave of the Fireflies, Nausicaa:Valley of the Wind, and Howl's Moving Castle.


I'd definately choose a Studio Ghibli anime over a Manga Entertainment anime, especially for the storytelling prowess that Studio Ghibli provide. If I was wanting an violent action packed anime I'd be looking at Manga Entertainment.

Though your obviously a fan of Ghibli, and i'm not knocking that, i think your statement here is a little short sighted. Its a bit like saying i'd choose a Ron Clements film rather than anything made by Paramount pictures.

Are you talking about Ghibli or just Miyazaki? Ghost in the Shell 2 was animated by Ghibli, but had nothing to do with such a director. (Incidentally it was distributed by Manga Ent. over here.)
 
A one-two rocket punch of Origin and Girl Who Leapt Through Time awaits, two Manga licenced movies which are about as Ghibli as you can get without the studio actually being the main contributer.

Probably is, im not very good at expressing my opinion through words :S
I wasnt being biast or anything, Manga Entertainmet produce very good anime, I've been subscribing the Manga Force dvd collection for a long while now and havent purchased a Ghibli film since the release of Tales of Earthsea but if I was after a good story driven anime, Ghibli would be my first choice.

Yeah Im talking Ghibli, not just Miyazaki, like said some of my favourite anime are from Ghibli, like; Graves of the Fireflies which was directed by Isao Takahata.

Im not bashing Manga Ent. tho, coz Akira and Tokko, are from Manga Ent. and those too are in there with my favourites, and also Neon Genesis Evangelion, the actual series which is from ADV film.
 
You also have to remember Studio Ghibli and Manga Entertainment are two completely different entities. Ghibli is an animation studio in Japan. Manga Ent. is a licensor and distributor of anime in the UK.

Thats very true, I've just come to enjoy the anime produced by Studio Ghibli moreso than the anime thats distrubuted by Manga Ent.

At the end of the day they are both great companies that provide us with great anime.


I wonder what anime will be like if it becomes overly popular?
Its becoming more recognized in pop culture now, t'll probably be Pokemon all over again.

Loved Dragonball Z mind, it was my main gateway into anime, aswell as 'Wicked City' and 'Street Fighter 2' and moreso with 'Akira', and 'Ghost in the Shell', infact without Manga Ent. I wouldnt of discovered more, and wouldnt of purchased 'Princess Mononoke' which introduced me to Studio Ghibli and which to this day, is my favourite animated movie of all time.
