how to make and find room for your dvd and anime collection

Fair enough :p

At the end of the day its upto peoples personal preference, i was just asking him why he chose to to pay someone to do something rather than DIY. For in this circumstance i'd see it make more sense to do it myself than pay for it.

You do put across a good point though, some people simply never learnt to do some things so it makes more sense and probably looks better from the hands of someone else. Myself though, if given the choice i'd build my own and then redirect the money i've saved by doing it myself at more anime, or more beer ect.

Recently went out and bought a storage unit for my room, a 3 draw unit from argos for £12 or something, long but reasonably sized height on the draws. In that instance it was more time and cost effective to just buy them. But also because i don't have access to plastic bending/moulding equipment :p and the oven wouldn't suffice. So don't get me wrong... sometimes it does work out better buying it, and its mostly personal preference and subject to circumstance too.

Cheap Argos/IKEA shelves really are the way to go imo, they sell them in enough different sizes that I can't see how you would end up losing out on any significant amount of storage space.

@Tachi i agree with you 100%
but the last time i made a shelf it completely collapsed thats why i like The Professionals they know why there doing,

It was the capitalisation of those two words in af17's original post that sealed the deal.

On Topic: Yeah, I literally do pile DVDs (and books) on the floor. Why would I spend £100 on shelving when I could have another hundred quid's worth of books and DVDs? And I live on my own, I don't have to compromise or take anyone else's opinions into consideration. Another aspect of solitude I enjoy.

thats the thing its ok to pile dvds and books anywhere you want if you live alone but when you live with other people, they sometimes mess with your stuff,
if your alone you can leave anything anywhere but if you live with other people and if you do live your stuff about they rather chuck them away, move them and later on you cant find them, get damaged, ect
i try to spend as lil as 10-20 pounds for a custom job.

The only reason I don't leave things in piles is that I then can't get to the things at the bottom when I have this much stuff. There are piles on top of the established storage areas though :D

Anyone who lives with me and messes with my stuff won't be living with me for long (or living at all in some cases!).

exactly if theres a anime at the bottom of a really big pile you have to slowly take so many dvds off to get to it, not to for get but if the piles big enuff it can crush the dvd cases at the bottom. how ever small piles are ok tho

Yeah, this constantly annoys me. Not quite enough to have yet motivated me to put everything in some sort of neat storage just yet, but enough to tempt me.
