How much anime do you own on DVD?

I know some people from AoD and ANN that have over 300 series they collect so that's why I'm saying my collection isn't that huge.

Okay, looking back at the list, it does look quite large, but I've been collecting since 1998 so I probably have a head start on some people even though I had a few gap years :)

Oh... i'd just like to add...

Gather one of 99.9% of the english releases of ADV, Manga, Kiseki, Pioneer, Animeigo, and a few other publishers on VHS in the 80s/90s ,and you have what's in my attic.

:p

Why is it that all of you have so many more DVD than I D= You and your rich parents, your highly paid job etc etc

My DvD are...

Boxsets

.hack//sign 1/2

Volumes

Chrono Crusade 1/2/3
Last Exile 1/2

Fullmetal Alchemist: The movie
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (I'm suprised I haven't traded it yet)

I've been collecting since the DVD format saw its first anime releases (not counting VHS). It's natural that long term fans have larger collections :)

And I *wish* my job was highly paid - I just don't like going out etc so spend the money on anime and do free things instead to socialise. Not having kids but being old enough to budget I can manage things just fine without slacking on mortgage/savings/bills etc.

I'd post a list but I don't keep one and making one from scratch of my entire collection just for this post would be a bit crazy given its size. I seem to be one of the rare obsessive people who don't keep a list though - perhaps I should have done to begin with (I list things I want instead - much easier!).

I'm pretty much the same as you with the not enjoying wasting money going out. Being an old school anime fan (since before DVD days) really does count towards having a large collection to state the obvious, except back then they were MUCH MORE expensive!!

I don't even want to count the VHS' I have either of anime. I mean we used to only get 2 episodes a time back then!

It's all about budgeting to be able to afford and really looking for those bargains too! I think a lot of the anime were bought on release but a lot of the thinpaks were bought in sales (Righstuf getting 46 percent off sometime)

Lists aren't really that interesting to look at and don’t really give a great sense of a collections actual size. So it’d be good if a few pictures could be posted. I'll try and post a picture of my collection soon but I’d especially like to see some pictures of these largest collections. Although I guess having that many discs and tapes will mean a lot of them will be stored away.

I feel ashamed to have a small collection (personally)...
Without my bro's additions, my collection consists of:

.hack//Sign
.hack//Legend of the Twilight x 2 (One's become faulty, so I needed another. different boxes, so I kept them both.)
Burn up Excess
Ah!/Oh! My Goddess! OVA set
Chrono Crusade
Dirty Pair Flash
Divergence Eve
Elfen Lied
Eureka 7
Excel Saga
Ikki Tousen
The Melanchony of Haruhi Suzumiya
Negima
Night Warriors (Darkstalker's Revenge)
Outlaw Star
Street Fighter (Alpha group and SF2 movie)
You're under arrest

Otherwise, my stand alones are: Animatrix; Burst Angels (up to vol. 3); Shuffle! (vol. 1 atm), Sorcerer Hunters; Puni Puni Poemy.

Aww, but a lot of yours are series rather than odd volumes, so it's not worthy of shame - and quite a few of those are great series at that.

Having a sibling/partner who collects too is neat too. My partner almost never buys anime but between us we have a pretty huge manga library. He buys all the shoujo romances...

Nice collection. I wish I had Fate/Stay Night, you can't find it anywhere these days...

I list things I want instead - much easier!

I don't list what I own either, but because my collection isn't huge (compared to some), I just sat in front of my shelves with my laptop while making the post. It didn't take very long.

I do, however, make lists of what I'm currently collecting (in case I lose track for whatever reason), what I plan to collect and also what I have my eye on.

As for spending; well I just save up, I'm usually coming and going from jobs because I always seem to end up with temp placements. I try my best.

Finally, Some smaller collections have sprung up. Now I can post my tiny, tiny collection.

Death Note 1, 2
FullMetal Alchemist 8, 9
Akira
Ghost In The Shell
Ghost In The Shell: Innocence
Planetes 1 - 6
Elfen Lied 1 - 4
This Ugly Yet Beautiful World 1 - 3
Noein 1
Ninja Scroll (For some reason)
Naruto 1 - 3
Paranoia Agent 1
Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad 1, 2

90% of the money I can use freely, I spend on anime/manga and merchandise towards something "otaku" related. The other 10% is travelling costs and money I need get by and socialize with. ^__^ May is coming up soon, So I'll be on another expo binge. I love them.

I will have to dig out the list I did before and add any new things to it. Of more concern to me is keeping a list of what I have pre-ordered so I don't go ordering it again as I have in the past when I got confused.

I have about 165 anime series on dvd and i also have a lot of manga as well so i really need to get boxsets to save space. Most of what i own on dvd is region 1 because its out faster than in the UK.

does anyone else find buying anime an addiction?

I just cant seem to stop myself recently

I do sort of have an addiction when it comes to collecting things, at the moment I seem to get pretty agitated if I don't have something new through the door for a couple of days.
