How many Foreign Characters in anime and mange can we list?

Zazie Rainyday, Chao Lingshen, Mana Tatsumiya, Ku Fei, Negi, Nagi~ all foreigners from Negima!.

Thing is though, alot of manga are set in England, etc; so would you count them as foreigners? Because basically all of Hellsing, D.Gray-Man and Fullmetal Alchemist would be foreigners then.

Good point, I guess it would be correct.

FMA doesn't say anything about a country, at least not a word in the anime. And for some reason, I would say they are in Germany (mainly because of the conqueror os shambala movie)

2 more:
Mei-lin and Shyaoran from Cardcaptor Sakura

Well it is in a different world so i gues that could be considered foreign :p

- The Paper Sisters from ROD the TV are from Hong Kong and many of the other ROD cast members are British.

- Robin Sena from Witch Hunter Robin was born and raised in Italy.

- Chrono Crusade is set largely in America so that sets most of the cast as Americans already.

- Master Keaton is one that's set over the entire world so most of the cast are from outside of Japan. Keaton himself is half English and half Japanese and was raised in England so I guess he could count as a foreigner himself.

- Lupin III is another series that's set all over the world so again most of the secondary charcters are foreigners and Lupin III himself is half French.

- Gunslinger Girl is set in Italy so most of the cast is Italian.

That's all I can remember off hand, I decided to keep to places where they name actual countires rather than fictional places like the alternative Europe in Full Metal Alchemist or the the fact that Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop was born on Mars.

Su from Love Hina is from a seemingly Indian-inspired country.

Tina in Love Hina comes from America. (I'm pretty sure that's her name anyway...)

In Death Note, you have the obvious ones of Mello and Near.

Do Sgt Frog and his invaders count?

And I'm not 100% sure about this one, but Clow Reid in Cardcaptor Sakura appears to be of mixed-descent (I think partially western and partially eastern, though I can't remember the exact countries he's descended from.)

Half the cast of Kaleido Star are foreign (Sora is Japanese, Kalos seems spanish, Ken is American, Yuri is Russian, etc etc)

That's about all I've got at the moment...

Re: How many Foreign Characters in anime and mange can we li

I'd actually suggest that the majority of Anime characters aren't Japanese. Gundam is a good example, since insofar as the characters have Nationalities or at least national heritages, they're usually from a diverse range of backgrounds. Even someone as symbolic to Japanese culture as Amuro Ray actually appears to live in America before going to space.

Thinking about Gundam 00, the only Japanese character that springs to mind is Saji. And we still don't know what he's supposed to be doing yet :p

Of course, the 'Foreign' characters in anime usually seem to be pretty much the same as the Japanese ones. The biggest shock for me was when the Queen (yeah, of Ingerland) showed up and spoke fluent Japanese in Aura Battler Dunbine. My memory is vague, but doesn't she get killed? Mostly everyone else does anyway!
