How long does it take PLAYUSA to send Out Of Stock DVD's?

Also, do things above the £18 threshold stand much of a chance of getting through from them, or do they clearly mark the cost like law abiding f*cks?
I've only ever had one thing get "caught" by customs, and it was from PlayUSA. Good luck anyway.

And any multi-item orders I've had in the past have always been sent out separately, like normal Play does.

Well, Play still hate me it seems. Four orders placed:

CARD DECLINED
CARD DECLINED
CARD DECLINED
CARD DECLINED

That was what stopped me using Play.com two addresses and one credit card ago... I think they must simply question my existence as a person.

Nope. 80 miles west-south-west of previous location. My 12th move in 25 years... Not the stablest of lives, although I have always had the comforting reassurance of stacks of cardboard boxes (but I digress).

It would be jolly nice of you to order me a copy of Revolution, though I have to admit I no longer possess a cheque book with which to pay you.

You lucky ****, had nigh on every single international order I've every made get import costs. Exceptions were all under the limit / books, which should be VAT exempt.

Who have you been using for international orders, Reaper?
I have been lead to believe that some R1 retailers still lend a helping hand to us.

Mostly from Japan not the US. Assorted couriers, doesn't appear to make much difference. The only US DVD (that was over the limit) did get charged (it was part of a larger order anyway), but that isn't a big sample. I tend to go the united publications (at a con) route rather than order direct form the US on a regular basis. Or just go for items that are under limit only.

The two retailers I've used who mark down the price on the box are TRSI (don't know if they still do this, but they used to mark it as something like $5 a disc) and Yes Asia (who used to reship from Croydon avoiding the problem entirely, but now ship direct from Hong Kong, lie on the forms and say they will refund you if you are charged).

Yeah, I love YesAsia. All the packages are gifts from the same guy in Kowloon, aren't they?

Zao fan you li my Chinese friends. No-one ignores the laws of other countries quite like you, and I salute you for it.

The only problem is that if an incorrectly declared package from Yes Asia was found by HMCE, it's the recipient who could, in theory, get in trouble for it. The regulations state that it's the buyer who's responsible for ensuring that the correct value is declared.

Also, ayase, this bumpage reminded me of the Slayers thing. PM incoming.

My most recent YesAsia package simply has the figure "10" inscribed as the total value on its customs form, without any reference to the currency this number (falsely) quantifies. You have my gratitude, Mr. "LOK".

I gave them one last "chance" on this score with the recent Romeo x Juliet boxset, all that it resulted in was me having to pay half as much again in costs and waiting an extra couple of weeks to get the thing. How Royal Mail have the cheek to charge people £8 for the "service" they provide when it takes them so long to "deliver" (ie. ask you to go and pick it up) an item after it gets hit by customs is beyond me.
