The anime series Horizon On the Middle of Nowhere is going to get a release courtesy of Manga Entertainment on Blu-Ray and DVD on July 29th.  The anime comes from Sunrise, the studio behind Cowboy Bebop and Code Geass, and is directed by Manabu Ono, director of Saki and A-Channel. Ahead of its release Anime UK News received a press release giving us more details including prices and what’s so great about it:

<strong>Synopsis:</strong>
<em>In the far future, the world has been devastated with the sole exception of the Divine States - the islands of modern Japan. A parallel world was created to help house humanity's teeming billions, but now Earth's nations have returned to claim their own slice of the one surviving land.</em>
&nbsp;
<em>
Above them float the islands' original inhabitants in the mighty ship city of Musashi, where the students of the Ariadust Academy prepare to go to war to reclaim their lost homeland. Right now, though, pervy student council president Aoi Tori is more concerned with P-01s, a snack store android who looks suspiciously similar to his former - and supposedly long dead - girlfriend&hellip;</em>
<em>
Horizon On The Middle Of Nowhere sees pocket dimensions, alternate timelines and humungous mecha sharing screen time with big boobed schoolgirls, sizzling swordplay and historical shout-outs in a genre-defying sci-fi romp that will leave you breathless.</em>
<strong>
We like it because:</strong>
Encompassing everything from high concept sci-fi to raunchy school drama, over-the-top action to subtle political scheming, Horizon On The Middle Of Nowhere pours the viewer a heady cocktail of eclectic plotlines topped off with good ol' fashioned fanservice and some seriously tasty mecha design.<em></em>

So the release date is July 29th, 2013 and the set clocks in at 303 minutes.

I'm overlevelled. Those F.O.E.'s can't touch me :)

I wonder if the UK release will fix this issue from the US? Not sure I've heard of anyone notifying Manga to check or them responding (and quality control being what it is, I'm not sure they would spot it themselves).

Wondering they've fixed something after noting you've not seen anyone else mention it seems like a surefire way to mean it will be broken/dodgy

I've sent Jeremy Graves a pm on this forum, might be a good idea if someone with access can do something on facebook/twitter

Great article, thanks! You actually highlighted a couple of things I otherwise wouldn't have checked out. :)

Re: Horizon On the Middle of Nowhere Series 1 Release Detail

I guess I have to buy this to support a BD release of a show I like so much and didn't really expect to come out here, but double dipping on something that is likely to have "issues" never quite sits right.

Is Vivis' post in the wrong thread? :S

I never thought to report the problem to Manga UK back when it came up as I already bought the US set (d'oh) and don't make a habit of following UK clones of US releases. It just struck my mind that the title seems to fly well under the radar in the west so it might have been missed.

In an ideal world the UK release would be A/B region and fix the bug, then Sentai could use the print run to fulfil replacements for people in the US who aren't happy with a glitched set. Of course, this would never actually happen T_T

I see they've settled on "on" for the title rather than the "in" used in the US.

I was thinking the same thing. It reads like a spam comment I get on my blog... Unless she's being ironic and dismissing my writing skills... of which there are little on display in this particular post. That written, most of the stuff I write here is gibberish... :p

Sounds like something I will enjoy. Really hope there's/they do an english dub!

Re: Horizon On the Middle of Nowhere Series 1 Release Detail

It definitely has a dub. Sentai don't tend to release stuff on BD without one, and Manga UK don't tend to license content without a dub if one exists.

Yes, thats' true, but it seems that very recently that dogma seems to have been relaxed a bit, so one wonders if the clergy are trying the other church in an attempt to increase the congregation and thereby increase the brass on the collection plates, so to speak. :wink:

Fortunately, since "in" doesn't actually make the same sense as a play-on-words in the context of the show.
