Like girls with huge rifles? Like fantasy adventures? Well you’ll be interested in the news that the light novel Hitsugi no Chaika (Coffin Princess Chaika) will be getting an anime adaptation. Here's a CM (commercial message) featuring the light novel amongst others.



Snopsis

Toru Acura is a lazy man to many but he was once a soldier. His sister Akari is not impressed with his laziness and forces him to leave their house and look for work. While travelling through a forest he meets Chaika Trabant, a girl with a coffin and a huge rifle. Strange, right? Things get stranger when they are attacked by a monster!

The light novel series is written by Sakaki Ichirou, the writer behind Scrapped Princess and Outbreak Company, and illustrated by Ookuma Nekosuke. It made its debut on December 18th, 2010 and it is up to its sixth volume.

As for the topic, don't suppose you could supply a direct link to the news item, the top page is full of rotating banners and I've yet to see one that seems to match the synopsis provided

Fairly generic looking male lead, and I do wonder if I'm being tricked by the platinum haired semi armoured maid costume

Thats the right page! A lot of it looks and sounds generic but I did like the design for Chaika and yeah, that Pacific Rim video was awesome. I couldn't stop grinning while watching it.

I'm kind of interested in this since it's by the guy who wrote Strait Jacket which had a pretty interesting premise so I'd like to see how this turns out. And I like the look of the main girl.

Quite enjoyed Pacific Rim, tho if I'd seen the movie now after watching the trailer i'd be a bit annoyed it wasn't quite as awesome as that made it look.

So 3 thumbs up for the main girl appearance so far, and on the basis I've looked into a series or two based on character appearances it's clearly a valid strategy
 
Not surprised to hear this, the LN gets its fair share of hype and SutePri was lovely, looking forward to this with no little hope.
