The latest instalment in the Higurashi franchise has had trailers released for it ahead of its launch and here they are:






Synopsis

Hinamizawa village has been sealed off due to a mysterious virus forcing Keiichi Maebara and Rena Ryugu to deal with it.

 This latest instalment comes from the short story “Higurashi Outbreak” and the tale is set in the same location as the rest of the series and features the same seiyuu in the shape of Mai Nakahara, Satsuki Yukino, Souichiro Hoshi.

The director and writer is Toshifumi Kawase and he has a lot of experience with work in titles like the previous Higurashi anime, Umineko: When They Cry and Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE.

Didn't Funi say they'd not touch Higurashi or anything like it with a 10 foot barge pole. I doubt we'll see this as a US release, perhaps a Aus Sub only if we are lucky.

The WTC sequels and Umineko were not part of that agreement. We do not have the license to any of those series. Unfortunately, because WTC series 1 sold poorly, we will never buy the license to the sequels or any other title that bears even a minor resemblance.
