I'm trying to identify an anime that was screened on BBC2 or Channel 4 in the 90s as part of a Japanese animation season.
Other films/series screened at the time were 3x3 Eyes, Devilman and Roujin Z.
Description: A young man gets possessed by an Ashura/Ashuran (I may have got this wrong) and sacred marks (purple in colour) begin to appear on his body. I think there were 8 marks altogether.
I can't remember the story but it was linked to Hinduism or Buddhism and the man fights all kinds of demons. I'm assuming it was made in the late 80s-early 90s in a similar style to 3x3 Eyes in terms of detail.
That's all I have I'm afraid. Any ideas at all would be very helpful!
Thank you!
