Hellsing isn't a comedy, though it is often overboard, but that's part of the reason I love it so much. And yes, you can't exactly take the major's monologue seriously (about 6 pages shorter might have been nice), it's hardly my favourite part. Still, there are plenty of other manga I find to be far more absurd or unintentionally funny, so I still don't understand why Hellsing seems to take such a beating from people. Rant over.
