Hellos to everyone...

Afternoon to everyone - quick summary:

I'm 23 and living down in (currently) sunny Bournemouth. Been a big anime/manga fan for many years (surprise!) and long since got dragged into J-rock/dramas by association.

Anime faves: Cowboy Bebop, Haibane Renmei, Genshiken, Honey and Clover, Ghost in the Shell, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei and Tenchi Muyo (for old times sake).

Manga: Yotsuba, Genshiken, Working!, Lament of the Lamb.

Joined the forum because I feel the need to discuss.

Nice to electronically meet you all.

Faves are:

Asian Kung Fu Generation, Bump of Chicken, Radwimps, the Pillows, Beat Crusaders

the last two are a direct result of anime (FLCL and Beck respectivly)

who says you need to understand the language to enjoy the music?

Beck is my favourite anime of all time so far :D

Solanin is my favourite manga that incorporate's some music elements that I find very interesting.

Detroit Metal City and Nana are also favourites of mine.

Welcome to the forums.

Hellos!

You like some very good anime and manga, but also unfortunately Tenchi, so I'm not sure if we're going to get along. D:

edit: saw your post about shows from this season, you seem to like awesome stuff there, so I will let Tenchi slide as some kind of anomaly. :p

Ah, Tenchi - never said it was good - but was one of the first anime I ever watched and I can forgive the franchise much. GXP was a step too far...a huge step too far...

Tenchi Forever is a damn good film though.

(Beck eps 23-25 have been rewatched so many times now - the dub still impresses - got to be in the running for best soundtrack for an anime)

Awh seems we fall into different ends of the JRock/VKei spectrum! I'm more into the Visual Kei scene, and with JRock it's all sorts I suppose. Maybe we'll try each other on bands some time; we may both discover great new artists :)

- Welcomes Jamboliah!

Loving the anime and some of the manga (not as well endowed in the manga field) you've put up as your faves. If you loved Beck, as Reevo mentioned, you should give Detroit Metal City and Nana a look in.

If I weren't such a rare occurrence on AUKN these days, I would imagine we would get along just fine. ^_^

Hello & welcome to the forum Jamboliah

Some good anime & manga listed there. What's the Working! manga like (I watched the anime recently and enjoyed it)?

Watched Detroit Metal City many times, and you have just reminded me to watch it again, thank you! Hilarity in bite-sized chunks.

Never really got into Nana, has the type of character designs that put me off, even watched the live action film in an attempt to generate interest. To no avail!

The Working!! manga is great - big fan of 4 Koma slice of life comedies in general and would certainly recommend it - the anime followed the manga pretty closely so there probably won't be many surprises if you enjoyed the first.

Hold my hands up and will admit to never having read any Solanin, will check it out soon (recommendations are all for the good, espeacially for manga)

thanks for the welcomes, everyone!

my name's Mark, i an nearly 21, and I'm quite a fan of anime, quite obviously, or otherwise I doubt I'd be the chairwoman of, y'know, the anime society.
Some series that I've enjoyed are are Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni, MAR, Clannad (I prefer After Story to the first series), Gurren Lagann, Tokyo Underground, Kino's Journey, Darker Than Black, Tegami Bachi and Fullmetal Alchemist. I've obviously watched quite a bit more, but my mind has failed me. Oh, the first anime I ever watched was Pokemon, like most other people I know, followed by Beyblade. Loves me some Beyblade.
I own a lot of manga, so picking my favourite series is the most difficult thing ever, but I would have to say, Tegami Bachi is my favourite series. Followed by Yu-Gi-Oh!, Fruits Basket and Fullmetal Alchemist.
I suppose I should also touch upon video games. I've been playing them for about 14/15 years now, and I'm still absolutely terrible and I've only ever owned one non-Nintendo console and that was the Dreamcast. My favourite game series is No More Heroes, and it has been for quite some time now. I absolutely adore Travis Touchdown, and he totally makes the story for me.
Outside of anime and such, I love music with a passion. My favourite band are Madina Lake and I've seen them 15 live because I have this habit of spending all my money on following them to various places around the country. I'm getting into a lot more J-music because of J-Soc (thank you, Laura~) but my favourite Japanese artists are Gackt and Aya Hirano.

Okay, used to listen to Madina Lake myself, not bad (personally i've changed music tastes completely since those days about 5 years ago :p ) Gackt - big thumbs up. Redemption is a great song (used in FF7 Derge of cerberus which was a great game to play, alot more fun than typical FF games imo) If you google the lyrics to Vanilla, it may surprise you to learn the songs true meaning :p

Welcome to the forums, i suppose your new to forums in general, so protip for next time. if you want to make a thread the "NEW TOPIC" button just above the list of threads (on the left hand side) will open a page where you can create your own threads :)
