Hajime no Ippo is definitely worth your time. Makes me want to go skipping 🤣 it’s got great supporting characters and Ippo himself is a decent character too. If I had the time, I’d happily rewatch it right now.

Bobobo is a very acquired sense of humour, but I adore it. It's so wonderfully silly and creative. It's a very unique kind of absurdism, in the same way that comedy acts like The Mighty Boosh are unique, or Reeves and Mortimer are unique. It's intelligent stupidity. Omg I love it with all my heart. I hope you enjoy it too. Please do tell me if you ever watch it!

I remember seeing this on television when I was a kid (I wonder if it was dubbed English or Dutch..) and thinking it was really stupid😅. Wonder what I would think if it now I am an adult and if I watch it in Japanese. Growing older can really change your taste and seeing you so enthausiastic makes me want to retry it some time^^.
 
If you’re craving more sports anime, I like the first season of Mix, I’ve not got to the second one yet. But it’s a fun baseball anime about two brothers and a sister. It’s also a follow up to Touch, although I’ve never seen that myself (I think that was released in the 70s).

I also really enjoyed Initial D. I found the CGI jarring at first but actually found it endearing after a few episodes. Def some PS1/PS2 racing game nostalgia. If you’re not into cars generally, I wouldn’t say the amount of car porn is off putting either.
 
Thanks for the tips! I almost only watch anime that i have bought atm, but I will keep an eye out for them in the future:). Touch is a classic! Ippo thought me that I dont really need to love a sport for me to enjoy an anime based on that sport. And who knows, maybe I'll learn to love the cars:p. I hear the music of initial D is good too.

Lol so I just spent 10 minutes trying to find a good subtitled Bobobo clip on YouTube. I didn't mean to spend so long scrolling - but you know how it is when you think "I bet it'll be on the next page".

Anyway, of all the clips, only two of them were subtitled, and only one of them really showed the humour of the show. And even this one is a bit tricky, because it's clearly halfway through a scene. But still, the first half of this will be enough for you to decide if it's brilliant or if it's not your thing:


I don't think I've ever found a single other show quite like this, in any medium and from any country. Did I mention that I love it?

Yeah, I’m not really a fan of boxing but for some reason always thought boxing training was cool… I don’t know why.

Yeah, I’m not super into cars other than when I owned a tuned old school mini in my care free days. But there is no barrier to entry for car knowledge in Initial D. They teach the stuff you need to know and the rest is just cars sliding around corners. If you e ever enjoyed a racing game, then you’ll enjoy this. Also the friend side characters are as fun as Ippo. The Lonely Drivers!
