Hayao Miyazaki announces retirement from feature films

At the Venice Film Festival, Studio Ghibli President Koji Hoshino made the announcement that the 72 year old studio co-founder and world-renowned film maker Hayao Miyazaki will be retiring from making feature films. "The Wind Rises", his latest and presumably final feature film, is currently playing in Japanese cinemas.

Considering how he said he'd trust Anno with a Nausicaa sequel, I imagine he could let someone else helm a Porco Rosso sequel.
 
It's sad news but he finished with a film that has been a major hit and is a pure distillation of some of his passions plus it's not like he's totally retired from film-making. I'm going to watch Laputa The Castle in the Sky Now...
