but tieria sounds too calm and quiet compared to his japanese VA
Damn. Tieria needs to have that "mentally on a knife edge" thing going on or he's just... well... a girly looking dude with purple hair. At least through the early parts of the series.

Thats kinda what i mean. He doesn't sound exactly like he should do early on: That being quite condecending in tone, very self-confident and so on. If i can find a clip of him dubbed i'll post it up.

You know what though, I can almost see what they were going for. Like, almost as if the voice actor or director read his character background and based it around that rather than looking at how he is portrayed in the Japanese dub. But yeah, there are reasons I don't listen to non-original language dubs, and several of them were brought back to me even just from watching that short clip.

Hmm that clip was a bit of a mixed bag (I feel lazy watching it when I have the DVDs in the room). I didn't really like Allelujah's voice at all. Lockon's was ok. I don't know the character's background yet but I quite liked the JP Tieria's surprisingly deep, tense voice. The English portrayal felt more like a prowling cat.

It looks like the dub isn't too bad overall. I'll stick to the subs personally.

Now there somebody named Daryl Dodge, thats just even worse, maybe it's just me

You think that's bad wait till you see some of the names in S2 of 00 :p

Ha, can't wait then .

I haven't watched something twice in the same week in a long time, really enjoyed this release and held back for all those years.

Have to agree Beez did a great job on the release.

To lower the tone slightly, I found this a little while ago and decided it needed sharing. It's Gundam 00 reimagined as an adult dating sim game opening sequence. It doesn't contain anything dodgier than exists in the series itself.

Hehe, another MAD Code Geass-like date sim intro.

I wasn't too fond of Lockon/Felt's voice in the dub, I just dont see Lacus' voice fitting felt, and Lockon's just unusual for me.
I can not see dub beating sub in 00 in my perspective.

Someone agrees with me on Feldt, woo. She just sounds..specially for the first season, to lively. I mean she is far more monotonic in season 1, so it just doesn't work for her. Lockon isn't to bad, admittedly i did give up on the dub after episode 2(graham and tieria being the primary reasons for that), but even still, he seemed better than most of the rest. Setsuna worked alright at least.

I'm now slightly put off the dub, after hearing that lacus's VA got the role for Fedlt, i thought her voice didn't fit in SEED and it will take a lot to convince me that it fits here.

just thought i would let u guys know that i have just watched gundam 00 and i thought it was good. started off slow but it got better as the volume went on. good start!

My bad actually, i've been way to busy that i completely forgot about it. I was gonna start up a month dedicated to Satoshi Kon, but i've yet to find the time to do so, this can be unstickified now, unless people want it up to discuss the second volume release due out soon enough?

Does anyone know why it's called Gundam 00? Sounds stupid but hear me out, I mean that's not the name of any of the units, the one that I guess counts as Gundam 00 is the 00 Gundam. Does it refer to the twin drives or the GN00 serial numbers? =/

Err.. it's called Gundam 00 because there is a Gundam 00. The same as Zeta, Double Zeta, Victory, Wing, X and Turn-A are named after their respective main weapons. The first two should clue you into why there is a 'Double Oh' Gundam.

Probably a little homage there too, since the four-digit calendar in the Universal Century had the early series happening in '00' whatever (0079, 0080, 0083 etc.).

Gundam will probably keep going on until they run out of western letters to use...

But there isn't, that's my point it's called "00 Gundam" in the series, unless the subbers got confused and they name it backwards like japanese names put surnames first

Well it's hardly grounds for utter disassociation. Actually, it's just plain pedantic. The main reason for calling it 'Gundam 00' will undoubtedly be because 'Gundam' is by far and away the most important element of the title :p

Also, the same is true of Mobile Suit Gundam Double Zeta's Double Zeta Gundam Mobile Suit. Whilst it was 'Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam', by the time they got to 'Mobile Suit Gundam Double Zeta', they were snowballing an entire franchise.
