Greatest Movie Moments

Just updating another post on this forum and it got me to thinking about the GREAT MOVIE MOMENTS, you know those bits of a film that make you sit up and say "WOW" or "Oh My God" or in my case "That Is So Cool". No matter how good or bad the movie itself these moments stand out miles and make the whole experience worth while. So what are everyones fave movie moments:

Pirates of the Carribian 1 - Johnny Depps entrance, staring out to sea from the crows next and then the camera pans out and we see its a dingy, that scene right up to the point where he steps perfectly onto the docks from the sunken ship is one of those moments for me.

Or

Matrix Bullet time or the opening explosion in Sword Fish who remembers the first time they saw this techinique and felt like they were watching something truely inspiring, like the only word you could say was Wow.
 
In Moulin Rouge where SAtine comes down from the ceiling, the costumes and colours and music just took my breath away...and also the part where she dies, always makes me cry =\

Near enough to the beginning of A Clockwork Orange,where Alex is just staring at the screen with a small smirk on his face.Creepy,amazing,kinda sexy i'll admit that :D but just down right amazing.
 
The corridor fight scene in Oldboy
The saw to the head in The Punisher
The last chapter in 2001
The invisible fight scene in Ghost in the Shell
The Osterich bit in Sideways
The corridor at night/ flashback scene in A scanner Darkly

gimme some time i could give u loads loads more.

It was a amazing finish to an amazing show, I had to buy more after that considering it was one of my first anime series

and I completely aggree with anything McIcy says if bullet time and WOW are in the same sentance.

Seconded.

In a similar vein, on 28 Days Later when Jim starts his little killing spree, which is wow enough, but then when he's slick with rain, jumps onto the foolish soldier boi and makes him a little dead. Those who've seen it know what I'm talking about.

That particular few seconds was like "RAAAAR me man, that my woman, you DIEEE". Wow is the right word.

The opening of the fight between Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris, in the colliseum (undoubtedly spelt that wrong) in Way of the Dragon, when they're stritching and then facing off. What a fight!
 
After seeing this last night I have to ad, Casino Royale, last line of the movie. The names Bond, James Bond


The opening Free-running/Parquor scene in District 13, where the guy dives through windows, off of buildings and through flights of stairs with out cables or safety wires sooooooooooo wow

The opening scene when they are driving.
Also, the bedroom scene near the end.
The Shawshank Redemption When he gets out of the pipe at the end and it's raining.
The Deer Hunter the russian roulette scenes. :shock:
Clockwork Orange the scene where his eyes are forced open :shock:

That was one of the best introductions ever.
The Matrix the gun fight in the hall. Probably the best part of the film IMO.

Also, Reservoir Dogs the ear scene.

The first time they swear in Southpark: The Movie, I was in a packed cinema and it was dead silent when Terrance and Philip said the F'word and then the whole cinema irrupted into laughter that lasted the whole film
 
Not a movie but an episode of Monk where he finds his wifes killer who is dying of an illness. It's just an excellent scene.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom where he grabs that golden statue, but he triggers the trap and the boulder tumbles down after him and the theme music plays, great scene. <3

Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back. "I am your father!" entire scene, if you haven't seen Star Wars you need to for that scene like... NOW.

Alien 3 where after a long struggle and endless battle Lt. Ellen Ripley finally finishes what she had sworn to do destroy the Alien Queen that lay inside of her which she must too kill herself. Of course they ruined the ending by making another sequal, which was good but wasn't needed.

Seconded. Also one of the few saving graces of the prequels Episode 3, Anakins and Obi-wans star fighters cruising through open space then diving into a the mother of all space battles.
Serenity- Where the ship comes through the clouds, followed by the reaver fleet. 'I am a leaf on the wind, watch me soar' . Just ...WOW.
The Tuning fight in Dark City , one of the best superpower fights ever.

Strange how i found that line more powerful that when they showed the distress in the TV series. Combined with Asahina's final message, which almost had me in tears when i watched it in the series, it was almost to painful to watch.

Totally agree with this, one of the best space flight scenes ever. Would also like the add River in the Bar Fight scene that was a 'Wow that girl can really fight moment'

Three favourite seens in the series, one is where we see Jayne join the crew as it means he no longer has to share a room, 2nd is the Jayne town episode where they find a statue of Jayne and he is seen as a hero. And my all time fave is where the Sheppard picks up a gun and knee-caps a guy (Mal: Sheppard doesn't it say thou shalt not kill.... Sheppard: Yes but God never said anything about knee capping) BRILLIANT

Don't forget the scene where he's naked and sitting on a rock in the middle of nowhere. :wink:
 
I haven't seen any of the Firefly series but I do have the Serenity film on DVD and I agree about the space battle and particulary how it starts. Blockbusting tension at its best, because you're waiting for that moment where the over-confident villian realises things aren't going according to plan, and when those Reaper ships break into view and you see the expression on the villian's face its priceless!

Think Guyver 0 mentioned this but the corridor / hammer fight sequence in Old Boy blew my socks off when I first saw that (and still does too). It was a paradox fight scene in the sense that I felt that it was fantasy, but at the same time the way it was filmed / portrayed - like the way the hammer and fist blows "strike home" - had a gritty realism to it that I've been unfortuante to witness on drunken nights out before (minus the "hammer blows" of course). What also made it extra impressive is that it was filmed in one shot without any editing, something which will become more and more common in films as time moves on.

Also in Old Boy I love the scene when for no apparent reason the lead character is about to engage a group of thugs in a fight and asks himself "Can 15 years of imaginary training be put to use?" and after he's taken them out he concludes "Apparently so.". Very inspiring for people who haven't done any physical combat training before and rely on films to make them feel like a Superman! ;-D

Also a very very recent "wow" moment came from Taiwanese film Warrior King (english title) with Tony Jaa. Much like the one shot action sequence from Old Boy, its the scene where Tony Jaa goes into the "resturant" and makes his way up the buidling taking out anyone who gets in his way along the way! All done in one shoot (even though the scene took two or three attempts to get right). An impressive seqeunce which demonstrates how durable and full of stamina Tony Jaa is.

Also in Ong-Bak (another Tony Jaa film for those who don't know) the seqeunce where he cart-wheels between two sheets of glass was one the best stunts I've ever seen, enhanced by the fact that if it went wrong he could have become, literally, "half the man" he is now (or less!). :lol:

Don't forget when he jumps through that ring! That was insane :shock:

I also like the final shot of Jack Nicholson in The Shining when he turns to ice.
