Gits:sac:sss

Ghost in the shell:stand alone complex:solid state society(very long)

2 years on major has left section 9(she's left a lot lately)togusa is now the head of section 9 they now have new recruits and batou is dealing with mws(major withdrawal symptoms).

We start of with majors trademark jumping of a 30 story building goes to the opening(gotta admit it this opening is really good wouldn't say as up to standards as season 1 and 2 but really good).

Plot is top ranking officers are killing themselves, only clues are kidnapped children and old people hooked up to a nursing support system. They all talk about one person "puppeteer"(First gits movie flash back).

In terms of action they didn't really focus on it as much they had the blood splatter but generally they focused on the whole plot piecing it together,of course you had the cliche moments(you know what i mean if you watched the other two).

Music fine as ever as played in at the right times.

Now voice acting depends which scale your on it has japanesse sub options if you really do dislike the gits dubbing(i really like'd it)but i believe the main cast is voiced by the same people.

Though it's as up to standards as always it does use a lot of stuff from the original movies and it all flows well but if you aren't following it you will be confused. Also there is a distinct lack of action from the others which may disappoint or excite you.

I leave it to you :p
(ps.i think the majors chest got larger)[/spoiler]

Watched this last week and really enjoyed it, found the story twisty enough to last the full length of the film without it feeling over stretched.

Wish there were more Tachikoma tanks though as I love them, loved the ending where they are kicking cyborg ass.

What can I say? I loved it. But that's nowt new.

Dub still the same as the series, not diabolical which is good.

Had a bit of a hard time figuring out what was going on. Have now watched it several times with subs and the dub.

Nice.

Right i'm still on series one and i havn';t read any of the above lol but was desperate to know if this film is the end of Stand Alone Complex or will there be another series?

They say in the extras that depending on how SSS does, there could be some more spin-off movies, but there was no mention of a 3rd Gig.

I read somewhere they intend to do a 3rd gig but it wasn't confirmed though.

Soo .... many ... abbreviations!

I'm making my way through GitS 1st GIG right now and I'm really enjoying it! So, I'm looking forward to this movie, too!

Is it in the vein of SAC, or does it return the non-stop philosophy of the original film?

Bit of both it's got the feel of sac but you have to watch it 3/4 times to understands the plot and how they wrap it up.

Thats good, I am really loving the SAC series. Miracously, I prefer the dub to the sub. they feel more fitting.

Well, looks like I'm gonna get the first and second gig for my Birthday, which is due in 7 days,

Lol i agree, getting so good. Bloody love the Laughing man
Now idea who/what he is yet but loving all the Catcher in the Rye references and quotes (one of my favorite books) lol tis awesome picking them all out. :D

I see, I thought this was simply GITS3 when I saw it on it's release, and didn't buy it considering I didn't like GITS2. But, now I know its a SAC movie then I'll have to!

I'm really glad to hear the dub is the same on the movie as the series, it really annoys me when they voices are different, makes it unwatchable imo.

Watched it last night at the British Museum and I have to say, I liked it very much. I do agree with some of the previous comments especially the first half hour of the movie but there were some amazing moments especially that ending.

And the music was as brilliant as ever.

I'll have to agree with the flow of this forum, it's a fine film. I can see how being new to series might make it confusing though, one of the most interesting things for me was how the characters have developed since 2nd GIG (Batou you problem child!)

The bit that really made the film for me was where Togusa goes to the hospital with his daughter, totally put me on the edge of my seat!
