Tonight at 10pm (Saturday, 4th March) ITV4 will be broadcasting Mamoru Oshii's influentical anime movie Ghost in the Shell (dubbed). It will be repeated (on ITV4) on Tuesday, 7th March at 11:50pm.

Talking of Ghost in the Shell, Innocence (Oshii's sequel to the original movie released this week) broke straight into the UK DVD chart at number 12, outselling many Hollywood productions along the way and proving that the popularity of anime in the UK is still in ascent.

Good to see Innocence doing so well. Also good to see an anime movie being shown at a decent time as well. I'll try and watch it tonight.

Oh cool, I didn't know it will appear on TV tonight
Thanks for the info Paul and I managed to check this thread just in time before it starts ^^

I will probably watch the first part to see what it's like on TV ( i love how hear people (who probably don't even know what it is), say anime or whatever it is to do with that, in this mysterious way lol). I haven't seen this film for like half a year as well, and as i'm ordering Innocence tomorrow i should think, everything is going to plan, muhuhahha

Yes if I hadn't already seen it loads of times an had the DVD I might have put the effort in to watch it, but since I have ill pass although still nice to have it on tv (even if it is on ITV4 an not ITV1) :)

I had to retune my digibox to get ITV 4 and only to find that it was the dubbed! One good thing though, I finally got my friend to watch it after years of telling him to.

I don't think our aerial is up to the task of getting ITV4 - even ITV2 is lostin a haze of pixellating and choppy sound!

Credit should be due to ITV for showing it at all though. Whatever your own personal opinion on the film (mine is mixed and best left for another thread and another time) it's a benchmark film that a lot of people will want to see.

Everytime I watch Ghost in the Shell, I like it more. A lot like Evangelion really. I must have seen it well over 5 times now, and each time I'm a little older so it makes a bit more sense. Having seen Stand Alone Complex certainly helps grasp the characters and such a little more.

I can agree with that. I'm glad I was able to watch it even with the dub. It's weird not hearing Mary Elizabeth McGlynn as Motoko and Crispin Freeman as Togusa in the dubbed version though. :p
