Ghibli Soundtracks and other stuff

And yet another annoying Kaede question thread....

Does anyone have a link to a page with information on all the available Ghibli soundtracks? Is it possible to get one from each film? I'd mostly be after the Porco Rosso, Spirited Away and Nausicaa soundtracks (if they exist).

Cheers,
K

Re: the previous reply. Please do not link to (or suggest linking to) sites which illegally distribute music, as I presume that must have been. Your post was deleted.

Kaede: There are soundtracks for most if not all of the Ghibli films, some of which even made their way to various European countries. Here are some details on the composer's website for the ones you probably want to check out:

http://joehisaishi.com/discography.php? ... soundtrack

Nausicaa.net used to be a good source of information and indeed still posts CD details but not all of the soundtracks have complete listings up yet. Worth a look though if you want some English information.

If you really like any of the music there are also CDs of symphonic rearrangements of the music and all kinds of remixes, some of which are quite lovely.

Hi Rui, thanks very much for those links. I'll add those to my bookmarks for a later date. To be honest I should have tried googling Joe Hisaishi rather than just 'Ghibli soundtrack'.

I've heard on YouTube a music box version of the main Spirited Away theme that's amazing, I think it's available from Play/Yes-Asia. There's also a computerised (chip tune?) Ghibli compilation I found that I'd like to pick up too. However I must stress for me, it's all about owning the actual discs and not just listening to the music. I'm starting to get quite the Ghibli collection together now so downloads (legal or otherwise) are not for me.

Cheers!

Not that I see any problem in posting asking for stuff, which everyone's probably done in the past on different forums. Including myself no doubt. But surely this is something you could have easily found out yourself? :p

Well I was hoping someone might have a quick one stop page for all the Ghibli soundtrack info. The link Rui provided is great for the covers and track listings for the main itmes, now I've just gotta look for a page with all the other Ghibli soundtrack versions (the music box/piano arrangement versions etc.)

There's a weirdly high number of music box versions of Ghibli tracks and they never seem to stop being popular. You'll want to search under "orgel" which is the word most Japanese record companies market these under.

Here are some possibilities (with samples):
