GANTZ

I've read the manga (not all of it) and I really liked it. I was thinking about getting the anime but I was told by 'MANGA MAN' at forbiddon planet said its crap has anybody else seen it.

Seen the anime and read all of the manga, so Id say definetly stick with the manga, the anime is crap compared to the manga, it stops right before loads of good missions and story arcs and has some random/stupid ending, so as a GantZ fan I'd say dont waste your money.

I have only seen the first disc of Gantz an it was also the last. It put me off certainly wasn't what I hoped for.

I'm up to volume 2 of the DVD, number 3's out next week I think. I like it, but then I like over-the-top shows in general so it's my kind of thing.

The animation's sometimes pretty dodgy, and a lot of the main characters are annoying and/or stupid (including the main character), but it's a lot of fun to watch!

But then I've not read the manga, so I can't compare. If I could get it down Forbidden Planet or somewhere legal I'd be there in a second! (downloading's not my thing and I have a crappy download limit too)

I'm a fan of the Gantz manga and while the anime certainly doesn't capture the razor sharp attitude of the original author, it's not half bad. It's above average at least, and if you love a bit of monster hunting and none too subtle social commentary, you should have a lot of fun with Gantz. If you're interested in it, you should more or less enjoy it- Gantz does exactly what it says on the tin (or in this case, DVD).

I watched this and thought it was good, If you scroll down or check the next page of this board you will see a thread I started about Gantz, if ya interested in it you might wana check that thread out. In summary I thought it was a good show with lots of action, the animation was Ok but the ending just comes out of nowhere and leaves you with the felling "WTF happend, HUH, that was it" which is a shame cos i enjoyed the anime overall 8)

Mate if you want it on manga get yourself on [link removed].

I've seen upto episode 9 of the anime, it's ok nothing compared to the original manga, though the animation is quality.

If you want the manga PM me.

Only seen the first DVD, but quite liked it. Thought it was bloody violent etc, fair enought, but what i really found interesting was that the main character was very... real. He wasn't some square jawed hero, nor the typical anti hero. He was neither chiche, nor anti cliche. Which is rare as often when created the characters come either from a pecreated stock, or a random charactered gernator.
The story also seems to have a few twist and turns ahead, and some fairly obvious things as well.
May rent the rest however giving the less that glowing reviews it seems to have got so far, but since haven't read manga may think more of the anime that those that have seen both.

I know when this aired in Japan it was shown in 2 seasons or 'stages' as they called them, the first season was only 11eps as it was cut and is 13 episodes long on DVD, having just got the 3rd volume of this, which reaches episode 12, it seems like they are just going to release this as one season
