Funimation set to announce 10 new licenses in December

But I'm still waiting for the second season of Ah My Goddess, and the rest of Wallflower to grace our shores again.

It would be nice for at least the US to get the rest of Wallflower so I can buy it. I don't understand why they stopped producing it I thought it was doing okay, money must have been tighter than I realised.

Great news about Gankutsuou. It's a good thing that people who haven't watched it will now be able to find the series on DVD far easier, and most likely far cheaper than Geneon sold the series for. The only bad thing about this is how the OOP Geneon set will lose its value, which is a bit annoying for people who spent £50-70+ to get the Geneon collection, such as myself.

As for the people whining about the lack of new anime licensed: shaddup if you ain't watched Gankutsuou. You should be kissing Funimations arse for making one of the best (if not THE) series ever available to buy new again.

As for the rest of the relicensed stuff, they aren't so interesting. I can't really see why Vandread was relicensed when it's hardly 10/10 material and it's 8 years old. There are far better series out there, and a lot more series that would stand a better chance of selling. And my thoughts are pretty much the same about Last Exile - an older show with some popularity that fails in the story and character departments.

I'm not very inerested in the 2 new licenses. I dropped Soul Eater, which I thought was no more than a generic and over the top shounen series in HD, after 4 episodes, and the first of the new Eva movies is near identical to the TV series until near the end. I'm not going to rush out to buy either.

That's great and I'm sure GAnkutsou is a visual bukake party in my eyeball but I genuinely got excited when Funi C&D'd Seto No Hanayome because it is the best Romantic Comedy in quite the long while (as in it acatuly has a head male that will not take **** from the situation, which is downright non existant in most anime) and I genunely want to have that on my shelf (espeacaily as the subs dried up well before it got CD'd and the best we got was a disgraceful number where they constnatly got names wrong).

Also, C&D without anouncement is a dick move and I would like to think Funi's above that ****.

No real contender for the the best ever anime title would only have visuals as its strong point. Spelling the title wrong and suggesting its visuals is its greatest quality tells me you don't know what you're missing. :)

I don't share your feelings for Seto-whatever because I haven't watched it. I would, however, have liked to hear about Spice and Wolf getting released, but I'm just happy to learn that my favourite anime is going to receive more attention. It'd be even better if MVM stopped being retarded and not reject the chance to license it because it looks beautiful.

Ikkitousen's utter garbage but hey, they have nine more opportunities to bring us something decent! It's a bit disappointing to see they're mostly rescue packages, but it would be a shame if fans weren't able to get hold of something like Last Exile any more.

Why would it? Last Exile is an anime whore: great to look at, enjoyable but ultimately forgettable due to the emotional detachment. It's over-rated and no-one would give a damn about it if it didn't look so pleasing visually.

I got the UK Battle Vixens box set for £8.99 new ages ago. I still haven't watched it because I can never work out if I'm meant to go into it with a porno mindset (lube + kleenex) or if I'm supposed to just watch. When females get naked and wrestle I usually think of it as a porno, and I stop watching pornographic material after sexy time explosion.

Newslflash: not everyone thinks the same as you. No, really. Even if LE was nothing but prettiness (which isn't the case at all) it would still be more worth watching than Ikkitousen, which is shallow as they come but fails at being aesthetically pleasing. I'm sure some peole enjoy Ikkitousen and will be happy about its rescue, which is fair enough, but there are other shows that do the same things and do them better.

You're absolutely correct: most people have inferior views that aren't worth hearing.

But either way, what does Last Exile getting relicensed mean in the UK? It's meaningless to even discuss it when ADV licensed it on our shores. Hard to get for UK people it isn't.

From what I've seen of Battle Vixens, it's a porno with fighting. That means that only losers who actually pay lots of money for porn will care about the chance of owning the series once again...assuming it's the same series Gebeon licensed, that is.

ITT Aion's opinion is more important than anyone elses.

But Funimation grabbing Ikki Tousen is a wasted chance for something better to get grabbed.

Okay, my sarcasm got the better of me there. In seriousness though, other series take Ikkitousen's mindless premise and make it more entertaining. Tenjho Tenge is sinilar but has a decent story...even the fanservice is better if you're into that sort of thing. There's a sequel to Ikkitousen iirc (dragon destiny or something), which may be the title in question here. That might actually address the storyline issues of the first series but in all probability you'll get more of the same.

As for your other point...I don't know if these announcements will have any bearing on UK releases either. Moyashimon is a lot of fun but it struck me as an enjoyable B-list title, which might not be released over here at all.

I'm more worried that this suggests that there's going to be a greater number of Re-licences in leu of licences of stuff that Funimation told fansubbers to stop fansubbing (like SetoNoHanayome et all).

And I will have to wonder my worth in investing in any shows if the shows I want to buy are being snubbed in favour of something that's been renamed Battle Vixens over here.

I rate Ikkitousen (the anime) much higher than Tenjo Tenge (the anime) even though the latter's manga version is my favourite. The anime of TT just felt so watered down and ugly compared to the manga that I couldn't warm to it. Ikki is dumb, but it's also fun and the kind of show that will sell consistently. And those of it who do like it will appreciate that the first season being back in circulation greatly heightens the chance of the sequels coming out before we die of old age! Perhaps MB was waiting for this to get DD out there?

Anyway, if it was me announcing ten titles I'd be saving the best stuff for last. Things are just warming up. Ten brand new licenses at the end of the year all at once would be flooding things a bit too much.

R

Edit: I'd buy Moyashimon and Seto No Hanayome myself, so my support for Ikkitousen isn't meant as a snub to either of those series. Most of the guesses for new licenses so far, actually, are things I'd pick up. My poor wallet...

What I've seen of Ikkitousen -- one episode -- I wish I could erase from my memory. But that doesn't really matter what I think because it has fighting and girls with big tits and that stuff sells.

I do hope we see more new licenses but I don't begrudge Funimation picking up a marketable title if it makes them money which perhaps they then spend on something less marketable.
