Funimation cancels One Piece Simulcast

<strong>Funimation</strong> who, along with <strong>Toei</strong>, agreed to Simulcast <strong>One Piece</strong> for the first time yesterday have cancelled it after their servers where compromised. Someone had gained access to episode 403 and posted it online 24 hours before it was due to air on Funi's One Piece website. Quoting from their statement on the matter:
<em>"An unknown individual accessed and posted episode 403 online and as a direct result of this illegal act, all U.S. and Canadian fans will be deprived of access to this great anime series for the immediate future. We will make every effort to locate and prosecute the perpetrator(s) to the fullest extent of the law and will provide updates regarding this most serious matter."</em>
Both <strong>Hulu</strong> and <strong>Joost</strong> who also had the right to stream One Piece online a week after it aired have both taken their episodes offline due to the incident.

Why should we care? I meen it's not as if we could watch these episodes in a timescale that would of been any cop to this whole issue.

My problem now is FMA:B has been locked to HULU.

I'm also calling that the person who did it was outside of the US/CAN area in which this stream would of been avaiable to.

Episode 403? Downloading that one is forbidden

You know, One Piece is done for in the US, but this made the pain go away.

OT: Anyway, I think this is really bad for the already suspicious japanese studios.
Legal streaming is still in it's trial stages and something like this can seriously damage the reputation of the model, holding it back for a long while.

Could the episode have leaked even without the streaming? Sure it could, but still the fact that this happened there on the streaming partner, is only more arguments for those opposing the model.

Well yeah thats the thing, anyway they can cut down on the fansubbing they will give it a try, and to be honest the whole streaming and simulcasts is a very nice idea to work on, and with it free too, its the perfect way for people to change from fansub viewing to legalised viewing. Yet in this case some fool ruins it. It does matter for us if you think on it, Manga are sorting out rights with Beez to stream TTGL i believe, so we are moving into that area as well now, and Funi's main video section is available to us as well, so them removing this and FMA from their sites does affect us.

Quite badly too, the only place to watch FMA:B was Funi's site. We're now region locked from watching FMA:B.
