FUNimation Acquires Initial D First Through Fourth Stages

FUNimation announced that it has acquired home entertainment, broadcast, digital, and merchandise rights to "Initial D First Stage", "Initial D Second Stage", "Initial D Extra Stage", "Initial D Third Stage" and "Initial D Fourth Stage" from Kodansha.

These stages will feature a new English dub cast and will remain uncut and use the original music.

The Tokyopop dub (& skanky visual edit) was rubbish, thank goodness Funi picked it up. They wont dick with the effects like Tokyopop did.
 
heard about this awhile back, but it's still awesome news, love initial D, avoided many years thinking it would be boring as F-, so i was surprised to watch and find how much it went beyond just racing. Sountrack is the best also :D

I think I'll consider watching it now.
 
i only hope funimation don't dumb down lines in the dub, such as the techincal talk about the cars and course. I mean i know they have a bad habit of doing this with other stuff, but as logn as there are no lines like 'HIS CAR IS **** FAST!' or 'HIS WHEELS ARE GOOD!' i will more than likely like the dub.
